I have chosen the option, pay-pal,bank account as I am hoping that this means that the payment will be paid directly to my savings acccount,  do I have to send the item first before I recieve the payment?. or was that the right option to get the payment into my savings account?.

The payment will go to your paypal account.  It is up to you to withdraw it to your bank account....it is not automatic.

If a paymant is shown as pending it means it has been paid FROM a bank account as an e-cheque and you need to wait for it to clear before posting the item.

I would not advise waiting until it clears to your bank account as it will take anywhere from 2-7 days and the buyer will get cranky waiting.

log into your paypal account and check, it may be 'pending' because your buyer paid with an echeque as lyndal suggested, or maybe you have not upgraded your paypal to a sellers account?

whatever you do, do not postuntil the payment is clear in your Paypal account, and be sure to use REGISTERED POST, and keep the receipt and confirmation ticked from the PO as proof of posting, never ever send without proof of posting and never before the money is clear in your paypal a/c

read up about paypal seller protection or you could loose you item and your $$

No, don't send until after you have the payment.

As said, check that your account is a premier or business PayPal account as you cannot receive payments with a personal PayPal account. If not, upgrade to receive the payment.

If buyer paid via e-cheque, you need to wait 3-5 days until PayPal advise payment is cleared and safe to send the item.

Just put your mouse over the payment icon (it will probably be an hourglass) and it will tell you how it was paid, and the status.

Also, you will have go an email from Ebay or Paypal that tells you about Ebay Checkout (bank deposit) or Payment Notification (Paypal). Just read that email.

Post once the payment clears into the respective account (Bank or Paypal), and not before.

As others said, and also you are responsible for safe arrival of the item, but AP does not have a fragile service.  You have to pack in a way that it will withstand being thrown around and some heavy items dropped on top of it.  Get lots of bubble wrap and good sturdy box, and register it, with extra insurance .  That will be only few dollars more but protects you against non delivery, however NOT breakage.
