Why are sellers within Australia over charging buyers for postage?

I can't understand where some of these Australian sellers are getting their postage amounts from. I sell and buy within Australia so I know the costs of sending things via Australia Post. How can they rip us off so much and get away with it? Why aren't ebay doing something about this as the high postage amounts are stopping us from buying?

A seller cannot 'rip you off' with postage unless you let them.  If you see an item with excessive postage, it's simple, dont purchase. But, you should also remember that the cost of the stamp on the item is not all that's is involved, there is packaging and extra cover which is not shown on the stamp, and the seller is entitled to charge a reasonable handling fee for their item as well.
