I don't have the option to select auto bidding?

You don't have to select an option. Just put in the highest amount you are prepared to pay and Ebay will auto bid for you. Your highest amount will not be visible, just the next amount higher than anyone else unless someone else hase bid a higher amount than your highest. I am not good at explaining so I will try again:
If you put in a highest bid of $10 and the price on the auction is $5 your bid will be $5. If someone else bids $6 then Ebay will auto bid for you up to $6.50 (or something). If someone bids $12 then your bidding ends unless you manually put in a higher bid tha that, at which stage Ebay will bid for you again up to your highest.
