how to recover the money paid by bank deposit--the seller doesn't answer any emails

I've bought one item over 2 weeks ago--paid by internet banking and tried to contact the seller 4 times but he doesnt reply. the item didn't arrive--is the any way to recover the money even throgh police--any simillar cases?
