I purchased a 'Mobius' camera from a seller, however the firmware, and the Mobius manufacturers firmware identifies it as counterfeit. I do not want to end up paying for the return costs, and want to open a new refund request.
How do I do that when ebay keeps redirecting me to the closed return request?

You can't reopen a dispute once it's closed. Either call eBay and explain the situation. Why was the return request closed? Who closed it, buy or seller.
other option, if you paid via PayPal open a dispute and explain the item is fake. You won't have to return the item as its counterfeit but Paypal will require you to destroy the item
