What happens if you win an auction then the seller tells you item is sold?

I used ebay for only the second time in my life this week. I bid on a furniture package with the reserve of $300 and a 'buy now' of $500. I made my bid and watched it all week. The auction ended at 9:50.37pm and I was notified by Ebay of my winning bid. I confirmed the sale and contacted the seller regarding pick up and payment. I then received an email to my personal email account saying "sorry this item has been sold" .

I don't know how this happened.

Sadly many sellers have items listed in more than 1 place at a time and sell it before an auction ends and do not remove the listing.

Also MANY sellers refuse to sell at the winning bid as it was too low so lie about it saying it was sold else where ir damaged.

You can not force a seller to sell the item but you can leave neg feedback to warn others "seller refused to complete sale after you won"

And also the only place that have reserves is vehicles so the start bid should have been what they would be happy to sell for if the item only gets the one bid.

make sure you give them a well deserved neg for this.

Its the only way they will learn not to do this kind of thing in the future.
