What country is this painting from?

Hi all!

I bought this painting from an op shop today- it is an original, not a print, but was cheap.  Does anyone know what country it would come from? Best guesses would be greatly appreciated, I'm not even sure of the continent!!

Some food for thought.

The style looks similar to something I have seen of Brasilien or African.

The name Sonsonn exists in Indonesia.

Thank you! But yes, your answer is exactly my dilemma in that I'm not even sure of the continent- my initial thought was Africa too due to the style but the people depicted in the painting look more Asian!! Indonesia is a good tip... anyone else?

To my untutored eye, it looks a bit like Diego Rivera.  Google 'Mexican painting' and you'll see similar sorts of things.

There is an Haitian artist called D Sonsonn who paints market scenes in oils.
