CURIOSITY - what would this old pulley have been used for?

Could it have been used on a ship? Or what?  I realize it has no monetary value, but bought it out of pure curiosity.  I'm assuming (rightly or wrongly) that the 3T stands for 3 Ton.

Any guesstimates will be appreciated.

Looks like part of a block n tackle.

Often hung out over a second story barn or old warehouse.

Then used to hoist goods up and slide into doorway.

And yes the 3T would be 3 ton.

Don't think I would be putting 3t through an aged block though.

Often a horse was used to walk away from the block lifting the goods if they were heavy.

I don't think I'd try putting 3t through it either!!

I wonder how old it is?

Hard to say, these were still used a lot in early 1900's but could be late 1800's.

Depending on wood used, how the metal has been made etc.

The style of the type suggests an older style so my guess would be late 1800's considering the wood looks in very good condition, otherwise I would have said a little earlier.
