Governments in co-hoots with the unions have spent a squillion $$$$$ on re-skilling them, giving them individual case workers to help them find re-employment and lots of other special help. Not saying theres anything wrong with that in the circumstance, but Joe Bloggs who loses his job from the local deli or the part time worker who is laid off from 7eleven dont get the same treatment.

Just another example of what a protected species car workers are. Unions have pushed up wages to the extent that they have completely killed the goose that laid the golden eggs and when the whole thing comes crashing down, the car workers still recieve huge payouts and special care that is not made available to " normal people".

You can try to defend the indefensable, but theres no way you will convince me an assembly line worker who fits windscreens all day is worth the $100K+  per year each factory worker is reported to have cost the company.
