Diary of our stinking Govt.

As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed.  The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.Woman Happy

This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.

and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says

The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.

Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.

"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

So the "Apology" Rudd made to the Aboriginals in all our names was just a cynical political act of self aggrandisement?

Campbell Newman at crisis point as Queensland poll looms

The outcome of the state’s election might seem certain, but both the Premier and his shadow are in danger of losing their jobs.

OK, now we have one saying if corporations can get away with not paying as much tax as they should. Tax that would increase the Govts revenue. Estimated to be several billion. What step does the Abbott Govt take to address this issue - major cuts to ATO staff.

If it's legal to minimise tax within the law, why not ?
Everyone else does.
They PAY what they should.

Obviously some schemes aren't legal. Very naive to think they all are. They don't pay what they should, that is the whole point. Been lots about this in the news over the last year.
Hockey announced he was going after them recently then backflipped, probably because of the cuts to ATO staff.

The last thing Treasury wants is spending ministers or the public at large to discover that Australia is one of the richest countries in the world, with one of the lowest levels of tax collection in the developed world.

We could spend a lot more money on services, be far more generous to those in need and run a budget surplus if we wanted to.

But the simple reality is that those who lead us, and those who advise them, don't want that.....like Banksters and Treasury and Rupert and other Corporates and......the rest of 'them'

That's why we won't have a revenue committee any time soon, and that's why, like a drunk looking for his keys, Hockey will likely continue to look for solutions to his "budget emergency" in the wrong spot.

Current arrangements allow superannuants with balances of $10 million to pay no tax.

....and here we have various business groups & LNPers raving on about extending GST to cover fresh food!!!

.....not necessary if they do the right thing and do a 180 degree turn and remove their pirate patches.

big story this morning Woman Surprised

http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/tony-abbott-insisted-on-20-cut-to-medicare-rebate-in-heated-...

TONY Abbott defied Treasurer Joe Hockey and the former Health Minister Peter Dutton to impose a “crazy’’ $20 cut to GP rebates before backflipping on the policy he had demanded.

In a highly damaging leak from the powerful expenditure review committee, senior ministers have confirmed they were told Mr Hockey and Mr Dutton opposed the move during a “heated’’ exchange with the Prime Minister.

The warnings included concerns that rolling out new changes to GP consults in the lead up to the Queensland and NSW state election was “crazy’’.

MAIDEN: WORKERS SHOULD FEAR ABBOTT’S CREEPY TAXES

DUTTON: GOVENMENT WON’T BACK DOWN ON GP FEE

Mr Hockey argued that the Prime Minister should simply stay the course on the $7 GP co-payment. The Prime Minister was advised to put the changes to the Senate - despite the likelihood they would be voted down - to deliver the government a clean start to the year. The $3.5 billion blow to the budget could also be blamed on Labor

note that bit: the $3.5 billion blow to the budget could also be blamed on Labor    Woman LOL
