ICONIC crustacean the Big Prawn has sold for $21.3 million, oh, and there is a Bunnings Warehouse thrown into the deal as well.
The property in Ballina in northern New South Wales has been bought by a private investor from South Australia.
The sale of the Bunnings warehouse attracted much interest particularly as the Big Prawn which recently underwent a full refurbishment was included in the deal.
It was marketed through Mark Wizel and Justin Dowers of CBRE.
“While we would like to think it was the role of the Big Prawn in the sale, it became evident very quickly that the chronic lack of premium grade, retail investment properties offered for sale to investors was the ultimate driver,” Mr Dowers said.
The prawn had been approved for demolition by the Ballina Shire Council in 2009, but that was enough to spur the community to show just how much they loved the land mark and petition for it to remain.
Wonder if it's gonna go off after while. Ay?
