Kangaroos 'cruelly' killed

There may well be some truth to the article, but it ignores the effects of drought currently being experienced in many areas of Queensland and NSW. Roos breed up to plague proportions during good seasons and when drought hits, the country can no longer sustain the numbers and many naturally perish from lack of food and water.

The fences may in some instances prevent the roos from moving to other areas, but if those areas also are suffering the effects of drought many of the roos would perish anyway.

Unfortunately Australia is a continent of droughts and flooding rains. Feast or famine. Roos are well adapted to this cycle and have a unique ability to halt the growth of joey feotuses mid term should drought occur and re-start their growth once breaking rains occur, allowing numbers to build to plague proportions very quickly. With any plague, the inevitable end is never pretty and can be quite confronting to those unfamiliar with the natural cycle..

Nature can be very cruel at times and when humans put their ten cents worth in, it can exarcerbate existing problems.
