Re: Subaru Forester Timing belt replaced and now problems

Car was ok when driven home from major 125,000km service.  Next day it stalled 3 times when brakes applied approx 10 kilometres into trip.  It started each time and didn't stall again on way back home.  Will be going back to mechanics, but interested in what others think could be wrong.

That's not much to go on but considering it's just had a major service definitely take it back.

I would be suspicious something is not done correctly.

To add the 2015-2016 models had a recall for stalling problems.

Also read throttle body actuator being cleaned can fix this.

How cold was the air temp when your trip started?

Do you warm the engine up to operating temp or are you a 3t driver ie  tear in, turn on and take off?

My money is on teeeny tiny vacuum leak ie vacuum hose not reconnected correctly

Re: Subaru Forester Timing belt replaced and now problems

Many thanks for your replies.

Car went back to mechanics next day.

Mechanic said it was stalling cause idle was too low 600... .. He cleaned the air intake throttle body.

Driven it now for approx 1 week and all seems to be ok...

I did check online and if the problem was still there we would next

try ECU relearn.  Finger crossed.
