So.. I have been helping a friend with his written of v6 EH. We are getting to the business end of the build so I thought I would put up some pics  The EH premier stationwagon...went like a demon but stopped like a fixed wheel pushbike Smiley Indifferent and he flipped it on a notorious Viewmont corner . (that those WRC cars will be hurling around again at 200ks plus in 8 weeks incidentally) with a full load of grog and 20 litre drums of old fish and chip oil that was destined for Viewys and frogs hollow "great bio fuel caper"

 

..... Guess what 1960s rubber.headlining,trim etc and modern vegetable oil do not mix...surprisingl

 

... He let the registration lapse so that a new Auvis inspection and reengineering was required.

 

He was originally going to replace the cactus subframe with another cut subframe, reinstall the v6 with a body stiffening kit. We also needed to change the front discs to ventilated ones (HQ or LH) to meet the new AUVIS regs which also required caliper change.....think lots of dollars... even before the engineer had his crack.......

 

So at his request  I notched the subframe for the v6 sump then reinforced it jigged and fitted the steering rack brackets for an LH rack, cut off the HR mounts and fitted plates to take the v6 mounts ..... about 12 months ago....... No work since....

 

He has decided now to go with a livened up black 202 and celica 5 speed ( which hopefully will usurp the engineers reprt requirement....... which means I need to fill the notch and remove the LH brackets and v6 mounting backets. Presently the cab is completely stripped and on a rolling trolley as we get it ready for paint

Hi Dave--projects coming along well.

Had a part no for an off the shelf spiggot bush to suit the Celica -Holden conversion

hand written in a clutch book under the counter.

But since "oscar" came in--the young blokes at work have tossed it out.

PS had hand written notes on all the different uni joints to suit 9 inch diff conversions.

One involved buying 2 unis and using 2 caps from one to make a good one.

--mumble mumble -info gone-young blokes tossed out the old uni joint book,

because -all the info is on -Oscar.

Apparently... and so are the gearbox internals......  half that for one with a bit of service left will do us. I will probably list flywheel gearbox, rear crossmember and flex plate together as a package to someone doing an original resto

always the way Richo... until the young blokes realize they might themselves one day need that info

 

... Ripco is our biggest lead producer..they unceromoniuosly banish enquirers looking for something a little out of the ordinary ....

 

 

try reverse engineering oscar on an R1270n clutch kitto get your number back

 

The kit contains hilux/hiace plate/holden cover plate/ thrust race to suit celica carrier with push clutch x holden pressure plate fingers  and  brass spigot bearing OD holden crank ID celica input shaft

 

I notice the R1272n (suits cable style pull clutches) clutch kit on ebay (which has one...count it one) one different part ie larger internal diameter on the thrust race to suit v8 clutch fork and carrier costs $330.00 landed while the r1270n costs $220.00

 

go figure Smiley Frustrated

 

 

I remember the 9 inch uni dilemma I think the cup was the same size but the cup circlip set up needed to be 2 external and 2 internal to get the correct fitment....still run into it a bit on older hotrod rear ends

Morning all.

Dave the small family owned parts outlets (11 stores) has been bought

out by a large overseas corp.

Now in the same stable as Ripco-Ashdowns and Ingrims.

They are the "woolies" of the parts game and are in most counties of the world.

the parts place where I am making my guest appeances buy almost solely through South Coast Agencies (SCA) who have been into independant replacement parts since 1945...odd ......

@Had to do it yesterday Richo for a 9 inch in a 37 chev connected to a turbo 700 gerabox........... what a mind @#$%.....

Dave--spare parts is a nightmare.

The nothing will change from the takeover has started lol.

OHS----fill in a form if you use a bandaid etc.

All my swap meet stock stored in the work place has to go---mumble mumble.

Cant fit it all in a -crowded one bedroom flat

Now up for $$s for a storage shed.

The nobs from the big B were sighted inspecting a building for lease

near my work place...................................Richo.
