wot's the ratio of diesel to petrol in the tank
you could wreck the fuel pump, the injectors, probably the seals

I was told about 5 litres of petrol in a tank of diesel occasionally is a good injector cleaner. Any more than that and you could be in trouble.
How far has it been driven? If it hasn't been you should be able to just drain the tank.

I wonder if a car will take off if you put aviation fuel in it......

As has been asked, how much was put in? A little won`t harm, but if you filled it, drain it.

You will have to drain the petrol out and fill with diesel. do not drive any distance, it can cause damage,
speaking from personal knowledge when my son accidentally put petrol in his Fathers (diesel) van. ;\

when I bought my diesel car they told me if I should ever accidentially put petrol in at the petrol station to NOT START the car but wait to get it towed back to the workshop
