I cancelled a pay pal payment on Monday as the seller had not accepted the payment and wanted a direct bank payment instead.  My bank tells me that the money is still with paypal.  Could you please tell me when the money will be put back in my bank

DO NOT under any circumstance, pay by bank deposit. One of the biggest scams going is for paypal accounts to be 'not working' and to ask for bank deposit instead. Unless the seller offers Paymate or merchant credit facitilies, they MUST have a working paypal account. Tell the seller that you will repay by paypal when they 'fix' thier account.
