When I offered to purchase an item I was not given the information that it would come from USA

I offered a payment on an item and was not informed of the cost from USA. I have changed my ming as the post cost was nearly four times the amount of the item

You will have to contact the seller and ask if they will cancel the transaction, although they do not have to do so.

Once the seller accepts an offer then you are obligated to go ahead with the transaction....you should have asked about the postage before making the offer.
