how to issue a refund after selling an item

I have sold an item and got paid but i need to refund partial payment of the sale

If they paid with paypal, go to your PP account and to the right of the payment is an issue refund button.

Click on that and follow the prompts to enter the amount you want to refund.

If they paid with bank dep then ask them for their bank details tom send the refund.

Refund the same way they paid you.
