HOW TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEED BACK ON A BUYER WHO DID NOT PAY. BAD BUYERS NEED TO BE EXPOSED!!!!!!!!

I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEED BACK ON A BUYER WHO DID NOT PAY HOWEVER IT IS NOT EASY TO DO THIS AS THE ITEM I SOLD DOES NOT COME UP IN THE FEEDBACK LIST.

WHY IS IT THAT EBAY DOES NOT ALLOW THIS? BECAUSE IT REDUCES SALES? I THINK SOME BUYERS WHO BID AND DONT PAY MUST BE EXPOSED AND HAVE IT IN NEGATIVE COMMENTS. JUST LIKE BAD SELLERS.

COME ON EBAY GET FAIR TO SELLERS!

PLEASE DO NOT YELL AT US - see how annoying that is!!!

There are good reasons why sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers. Have you got your blocks in place so that anyone who is not phone registered, or has more than one non-payer strike cannot buy your items?

Firstly, please don't yell at us, we have done nothing to deserve it, OK?

Second, you are not speaking to eBay, you are speaking to other members who don't like to be yelled at.

Third, did you open a non payer dispute to get your fees back and give the buyer a strike against their name? If you don't know how to do that, ask (without yelling).

Fourth, set your blocks so people with unpaid strikes or no phone verification can't bid on your items. If you don't know how to do that, ask (without yelling).

Last, in your headings, might pay to put for parts only as a lot of people only read the heading and look at the photo. They find it too hard to scroll down and read the ad. The non paying buyer may not have realised (through their own fault) that the phone was for parts only and when they did finally realise, realised they weren't buying what they thought they were.

Hi chooks, in fairness to the seller(apart from the yelling) it does say "for parts not working" at the top of their listings.

On the other side of the coin the same item does appear to have been sold three  times at ever increasing prices to three different buyers.

No doubt in an attempt to recoup fvf rather than following correct procedures as you suggested.

Always surprised at how sellers/buyers do not do any study/research before trading on eBay.

First up - GOOD ON YOU FOR LETTING OFF SOME STEAM - if it's yelling then go ahead. eBay can be so $@##ing frustrating so, as a fellow seller, the last thing I'm going to do is criticise you for how you have posted a message here.

Secondly, yes, i agree with you 100%. eBay must allow sellers to post negative feedeback if a buyer fails to pay. It's not too hard to do and when a seller becomes so negligent and so disrespectful to the point in which they decide not to pay, then they MUST get a negative - a negative that is displayed for all to see.

Unfortunately, eBay gets away with bad policies. Many times they are supported in their bad policies by forum posters. This is very poor form, especially in this case.

As for the posters who say you can block buyers and eBay will give them a strike - OHHHH PLEASE! Are you guys for real? These things do NOTHING at all to publicise a non-payer. Have you ever tried to see how many strikes a buyer has? It's virtually impossible and eBay refuse to supply the information. It's a very closed and dark shop in this regard.

Finally, all I can say is document a case where you have not been paid and forward your complaint to the ACCC and ASIC. Put them on notice that eBay is harbouring and supporting buyers who do not pay by denying you the right to publicise their negative behaviour which in turn perpetuates the likelihood of the same buyer scamming other sellers. Therefore, in effect, eBay is protecting scammers by failing to allow you to post negative feedback for a non-paying buyers so that you can warn others. This situation becomes negligent on eBay's part if a seller is scammed by the same buyer that you were denied warning others of. The ACCC and ASIC are the two authorities who can put such examples together if they get enough complaints for an investigation. Once this happens, eBay is forced to change their policy. It's usually the only way they change policy once dragged kicking and screaming by the authorities, leaving it to the very last minute in which they think they can get away with it. This argument has been used successfully many times whereby sellers have actually left a negative comment for non-payers with a positive icon tag and eBay know they would be absolutely negligent if they removed such negative truths.

Scenario: Buyer doesn't pay, you leave them negative feedback. As retaliation, they leave you negative feedback. Buyer doesn't pay for 10 more items and receives 10 more negative feedbacks, you receive 10 negatives as retaliation. Buyer continues to buy as there is no way to stop them, you have your selling privileges removed because your percentage is too low. Buyer wins, you lose.

Sure, you can check a bidders feedback if you run auctions and cancel their bid if you don't want to sell to them, but what if they bid in the last few seconds, where you don't have time to cancel? What if they buy Buy it Now items? The contract has been formed by then and it's too late. They don't pay, you leave a negative for them, and you get one in return.

Negatives only hurt sellers, not buyers, that's one of the reasons why the stopped letting sellers leave negatives for buyers.....it achieved nothing. You can tell if a buyer has more than 2 unpaid strikes quite easily. They can't buy off you if you have the appropriate blocks in place. If you don't have blocks in place, that's your problem.

Oh, and good luck with the ACCC, it's already been tried, but feel free to file a report.

Ilovemychooks, you totally missed the point - The negative feedback should be automatic! It should also annul any opportunity for a buyer to leave negative feedback for a seller when they have not paid. This is a pure and simple equation that eBay will not absorb. Do you not understand this concept as well?

eBay's dysfunctional policy helps to hide the scammers and allow them to do it again and again and again. Negative feedback is also a good indication of the type of buyer you are dealing with. It's pathetically no good at all if all you see is positives when these willful non-payers cause a lot of trauma along their merry way. eBay are happy to keep such measures in place, especially when they see forum users arguing over a cocept that should be as accepting as mum's apple pie.

Sellers affected by non-payers can fight against this bad situation by documenting non-paying cases where eBay has REFUSED to post a negative rating against the buyer's name and then send it off to the ACCC and ASIC as this constitutes harbouring scammers and will only lead to other sellers being defrauded in financial transactions.

I think the point you're missing is, it doesn't matter how many negatives a buyer has against their feedback, they can still buy. It wouldn't matter if the negatives appeared automatically, they can still buy. Same as if you have a lot of negatives in lose your selling rights, you can still buy to your hearts content.

By all means contact the ACCC and ASIC, it's been done plenty of times before. Better still, why not call the police and charge your non payers and take them to court for breach of contract.

So it should be automatic should it? What about the many cases where a buyer coes to the boards asking for advice and we tell them the listing is a scam, the description is deceptive, the seller is a conman etc etc and they should not pay?

Many of the sellers who come here wanting to have the ability to leave negs for non payers were nt arround back in the days when we coud leave negs. The advice given on the boards back then when buyers didn't pay was to NOT leave them a neg even though back then there was no ability to block all buyers who had not paid for more than one item.

All leaving negs achieved was to allow carp sellers who left retaliatory negs and then coerced the buyers into mutual cancellation to maintain their high feedback scores and continue to rip buyers off. I prefer to get my fees back which puts the transaction in the position of never having taken place so neither side can leave feedback, remember that it is buyers that read feedback and an angry seller leaving a rabid comment is going to put a buyer off much more than a lack of any feedback.

Cat HappyAgree with a few posters re frustration experienced with non payment and think that an automatic negative for non payment with prescripted eBay comment such as non payment strike was issued for this transaction sounds attractive.

The reality is eBay is unlikely to ever introduce such a system, but still think doesn't hurt to ask nicely, so also recommend refraining from using CAPS TO MAKE YOUR POINT OP Cat Tongue

The current non payment and strike appeal process should more than cover off the small group of buyers (IMO) within the non payment group, that may actually be at risk of a scammer so have not paid yet  The vast majority of those visiting the boards with concerns of being scammed or similar have actually paid.
