Reserve Priced Auction

In a 99c start auction, lets say the seller has put a reserve price of $35  (unknown to the bidders of course). Let's say bidder 1 bids 99c and bidder 2 bids $40, the auto bidding thing will set the current bid at $1.09. Now there are no more bids. At the end of the auction, the reserve price has actually been reached (by bidder 2) but the auto bid facility still says the current bid is $1.09.

I know, long winded, but .....

So has bidder 2 won the auction or not?

I thought  (may be wrong) that you could only have a reserve price in Motors, Cars

etc.

Try this

In an auction with a reserve, bidder 2's $40 bid would jump straight to $35 as it meets the reserve.

OK, thanks for that - I think this part answers my question

  • If your maximum bid is the first to meet or exceed the reserve price, the effective bid displayed will automatically be raised to the reserve price.

and no, it's not just in Motors etc

The Reserve Price option is only available for vehicles listed in the Cars, Bikes, Boats category (excluding Go Carts, Pocket Bikes and Trailers).

it doesn't matter, if they list on a site that allows reserves.

Welcome back. It's 'nice' to see you have come up with a different slant.
