why I'm I paying 20% Ebay fees ? 9.9 selling fees and an additional 9.9 selling fee when my buyers

Hi , why I'm I paying 20% Ebay fees ? 9.9 selling fees and an additional 9.9 selling fee when my buyers decide upgrade to express post ?

I sold it for $259.99 with free regular shipping , My Final Valve fee was $28.31 But the buyer wanted an upgrade to express shipping so i changed him $13.00 shipping cost . The actual shipping costs of the express shipping was $15.90 , that is an lost of $2.90 straight off the bat .

So this is my question WHY IS EBAY charging me additional 10% $1.42 for my Express shipping , Im not making money out of it , so should EBAY ?????????????

If your advice is  sound ! why dont you show me how you are ?

WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE !

ALL I KNOW IS THAT YOU ARE VERY VERY SCARED ! OF SHOWING WHO YOU ARE ! BUT YOU WANT TO BE NASTY ! DONT WANT TO SHOW ME WHO YOU ARE !

WHY ???? I CANT HURT YOU !

You have asked a number of times, why people choose to use posting ID,s on the forums. ( or to quote a number of your posts   WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE SCARED OF ???? )

Unfortunately the ebay forums, like most other online forums are not entirely safe. There have been instances where sellers have used their regular selling id,s to post comments others dont like. Some small minded people have responded by making " purchases " from the seller with the intent to cause the maximum damage to their accounts as possible. I have had problems with my main store after accidently posting on the forums with the selling account ID once. Sales from the store where my main source of income, so I could not afford to have it tampered with.

Using a posting ID, also allows sellers to give more specific information than they might choose to do if their selling ID was known. My stores sell into a very small and specialised market niche. I dont need new sellers copying my store systems, listings and products and undercutting my selling prices.  Having a posting ID allows me to share sensative information, such as the type of places I source stock, average sell price, profit margins etc. I would never share this information if it allowed others to directly copy my business model.

There are enough regular forum posters who know one or more of my selling id,s and are in a position to call BS. if I post information that is exagerated or untrue.

I dont have a facebook or twitter account. I am happy to share some of my experiences with other ebay members, but I prefer to keep my selling accounts safe and simply like a little bit of privacy.

Ebay has been charging the final value fee on postage for ages now.

You are already paying it on the standard postage which is built into your item price so what is the problem with paying it on the extra postage you are charging your buyer?

you know 10% fvf of the item and 10% fee of the postage doesnt not equate to 20% of the total right? its still 10%

Ebay have been charging fvf on postage for a couple of years. Is it fair ? probably not, but if they dont get the money that way they would have to increase the fvf on the item sale price to make the same amount of money. Ebay as a company are not making huge profits, so it is not blatant profiteering. They are only just keeping their heads above water and making very modest profits for a company of its size.

There are probably a lot of past management decisions which have adversly affected ebays viability, but they cant be changed now. It is what it is. We either pay 15% - 20% commision on selling our items, or walk away and find something else to do. Personally I,m having a bet each way. I,m still happy to sell on ebay and pay the fees, but are spreading the risk by earning some of my income off of ebay as well.

If the postage cost is similar to the item sale price, the total ebay fvf equates to around 20% of the item sale price.

But it certainly isn't in this case.

The use of hyperbole, which claiming a 20% fee when it's the standard 10 and a bit, tends to obscure the supposed problem. if people stuck to facts when they asked questions, they might get a more sympathetic response.

Like claiming being $2.90 in the hole, because they charged $13 for express when it cost $15.90. Forgetting that standard postage was already included in the item price.

It's funny how those coming to community screaming and accusing then after being pointed out their incorrect, never seem to come back.

Maybe they feel a little of a "How embarrassment" moment. Smiley Frustrated

Sorry if you couldn't work it out for yourself ! It was CLEAR AS DAY what I was saying !

I wanted opinion ,  but I want the opinion from a real seller that actually sold PRODUCT .

You are right on some of your points , like my maths ! but I still don't think that they need to take 9.9 % additional for express posting !

I would like to hear from someone that sell more than $2.00 a month or actually sells anything to get there opinion

Thanks

You obviously don't know about posting IDs.

Davewil has several other selling accounts with feedback in the thousands and does know how ebay works.
