The seller's site would not let me change my order from 1 to 2 items. I then placed a new order for 2 items which I paid for and have received. They are now chasing me to pay for the first order as well!

You order 3 items and as such you need to pay for 3 items 

If you wanted only 2 and say that you could not change your original order, what not order 1 item the second time, why order 1 and then 2 if you only wanted a total of 2?

Yes, of course you need to pay for the 3rd item YOU ordered
