listing fees to rise in The US

Auction listings continue to decline in growth - 20% down, while fixed price listings have risen

"eBay will likely find that the more auctions decline, the harder it will be to revive them."

The new auction fees contain some positives and some negatives for those who sell items that do best in the auction format - see details in today's Newsflash newsletter.

- eBay will provide credits for insertion fees for auction listings that sell.

- eBay will eliminate 10-day auction duration surcharge.

- eBay will institute a $1 surcharge for 1- and 3-day durations.

- eBay will increase auction Reserve Price fees.

Obviously their revenues have been hit by people choosing to use the cheaper fixed price listing option over the more expensive auction option so they are trying to force people back to the auction listing format.

So they are trying to entice people back to auctions by making it dearer? I wonder how long they thought about this idea?

I would move back to auctions if they bought back reservesand lowered the prices. These are astronomical to my mind.

so currently $50 for 1000 listings, that would rise to $300.

Maybe they will make a price difference between basic stores and featured ie: $20 store - 30c fixed listings, $50 store - 5c listings?
