Here we go,(more stabs in the back).

 

These changes are happening from August 2017.

 

From August 2017, we’re rewarding sellers who offer buyer-friendly returns policies by enabling buyers to filter searches to only show listings that offer free 30- or 60- day returns as well as highlighting of free returns on listings.

 

Returns policies can help drive conversions for sellers. Our data indicates that when sellers who do not offer remorse returns start to offer 60-day, seller paid returns, they can expect to see on average a 47% increase in conversions*.

 

More "spiel" as how they they figure that out?

 

Buyer remorse and sellers have to pay for it?

 

The new online hire place,(they'll buy it,use it and then return it).

 

Update your returns policy to offer 30- or 60-day returns and consider offering free returns so you can take advantage of added visibility if buyers filter search results by returns policy.

 

If you currently offer 3-, 7- or 14-day returns (which will no longer be available from September), when your Good 'Til Cancelled listings relist they will automatically be moved to a 30-day return window if you don’t update your policies before this time.

 

Extending the period will only help buyers and shaft sellers.

 

Our research shows that a generous free returns policy can result in fewer item not as described return requests. We are also giving listings with generous returns policies greater visibility if buyers filter search results by returns policy, which can increase your chances of making a sale.

 

Research,(they actually mean they made it up because sellers haven't switched so there is no data,stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

 

Off course,(they just change it to a change of mind return which still makes it a return and doesn't decrease

The change applies to all item conditions including used and refurbished.

 

Looks like we could be hidden more as this smacks of more buyer "protection",(which in real terms will

 

mean more buyer freebies as sellers will let them keep the item rather then be out of pocket for another

 

lot of postage fees).

 

Sell an item for say $20 with $12 postage and they'll buy the item,use it and then want to return it,so the

 

seller has to spend another $12 to get the item back for a nett loss of $4,(that's not selling that's paying

 

the buyer to use an item).

Seeing as the post was done by an eBay employee,surely they  can answer questions,good.gif

 

Can we see the: Q4 2016 data that the "new" returns policy is based on please.

 

Conversion lift seen based on Q4 2016 data. Individual results may vary. eBay does not guarantee that each seller will experience the same lift.

 

Just interested to learn why sellers changed to a 30 or 60 day free retuns policy for no apparent reason as

 

there is a problem with buyers using an item and then wanting to return already,(so why make it worse for

 

sellers?)

what I would like to see for Aussie sellers in one of these releases is a change to the fees on postage to align us with USA sellers and only pay the fee on the base domestic postage showing on a listing when an international buyer buys an item.

 

Either that, or cap the fee on international postage at $2 which would be equal to the fee that would be paid on $20 domestic postage.

 

I think that would help Aussie sellers which would, in turn, help eBay.

I get the impression EBay do no care all that much about Aussie sellers, we get a second rate help desk based in the Philippines, many Rbay features are not availabe to Aussie sellers, etc.

Ebay truly does not care about sellers .Offering free postage is one thing that doesnt always work if item is heavy..

Then they charge the postage fee if you offer posatge.

 

I have items that should not be able to be returned because they can be copied.Now buyers can happily buy cd's records dvd's records

magazines and photos and copy them and ask for money back and ebay expects us to give up to 60 days to the buyer to return items.

 

Luckily I dont have requests for returns.

 

But can see this changing in the futre

But the seller pays the FVF on the postage if they build the postage into the item cost and offer Free postage.

What is the difference?

It is only making a level playing field for those who offer free postage and those who prefer to offer their items with separate postage.
