Will there still be an ebay.com.au with government implementing gst?

Are ebay really going to close ebay.com.au? there never has been gst on second hand items...does it only apply to new items/elactronics etc imported??? What is going on??!!??

No.

Apparently there have been discussions about Gov wanting to have GST on imported goods (eBay purchases from overseas sellers) and the Gov is wanting eBay to collect that GST.

So eBay are saying, too hard, we will just restrict members from buying OS.

All talk, nothing more.

Afraid I have not heard anything about ebay.com.au being 'closed down'

 

Who told you that?

 

There are several threads on the topic of GST/buying from overseas/ possible changes etc

 

But this is the first I have heard about an actual closure

If you are working on that premise then you are very wrong.   Depending on the GST status of the vendor then GST is most definitely applicable to second hand goods.

The GST on second hand goods currently applies for overseas purchases over AU $1000.00. The government want to make it applicable to all purchases regardless of value
