Hi smiling, hopefully you will get answers tonight when the car experts are home from work. One in particular, I think - carl?? what he doesn't know about cars is not worth knowing, good luck, I know where the petrol goes, and that's it!

don't take life too seriously.......it's not permanent

Can you not drive your car to the fairmont and compare?

What year is the fairmont and the forte? Quite possible the anchor points and buckles are different. Wouldnt matter about the buckles if you are changing the complete set.

I'd call your local Ford wrecker.

Hi Joz :)

I'm not able to compare.I didn't even think to check when I saw the words Ford AU seat belts.I wrongly assumed that they would be the the same Ford AU that I have ...I know that's dumb. However they are for a Ford Fairmont AU Series 2 (i don't know the year). My car is a Falcon AU Forte S1 1999 model.

I will have to take them to the mechanic and see what he thinks before I book it in to have it done (he has offered to do it,he himself is not sure if they will fit.he thinks that the housing on the side for the upper part of the belts may be different). We will have the complete set.

I just thought I'd see if anyone knew either way .

Thankyou

I know that the Fairmont won't have the rear centre belt .

How come? Arent all AU sedans/wagons inc. fortes and fairmonts five seaters?

You know i dont think the year difference really matters, but, the luxury levels do!

For instance; They might anchor the female buckles in the center console instead of on the floorpan behind the front seats, for a neater finish as well.

If that is the case you'd be better off buying seat belts to suit your model and selling the fairmont ones to get your money back.

Greetings all.

Just looked up the part numbers, all 3 rear belts are the same part, but fronts have a different part number.

Inconclusive, as it doesn't determine whether they will in fact fit or not, may just be some cosmetic differences? Possibly totally revised mounting points? Different pre-tensioner rates? I won't say one way or the other, as I would only be guessing at this stage.

I'd certainly go on the side of caution towards not being compatible, as if the newer model belt would suit, one would think it would supercede the older part.

Then that probably makes you happy then, as they are the identical part :)

As far as the fronts go, even if they do fit properly, and appear to function as intended, it may render the car non ADR compliant, as they aren't the identical item it was ADR tested with, even if they may be a better unit. They (RTA etc) can be a bit funny that way.

The front belts are different, the forte has no shoulder height adjustment in the pillar, the Fairmont does and they are not interchangable.

Interesting to know. Strange that they took a step backwards omitting them, I have ELs in both Falcon and Fairmont, and both have the sliders.
