Heellloooo......

Booklovers, booksellers, bookbuyers....where are you hiding?

It's been very quiet here in the books board.  Are you all off reading a good book?  Better yet, on holiday with a good book :)

Drop by and let us know what you're up to.

:)

Hi Happyinoz,

I'm now in Singapore so my Ebay selling days are over.  I still pop in here to read but, yes, the boards have been quiet.

I'm heading off to Perth for a solo weekend in a couple of weekends and plan to catch up with Amanda and Sandi for a pie or a sausage roll. Mmmmm...how I have missed 'proper' bakeries. Oh, that reminds me I must also have a Chiko roll while I'm there.....

Good to hear from the both of you!

Kelly--you'll have cravings for weeks before your return trip!  I remember my OH having to bring bottles of cordial overseas to a mate years ago when my OH vistied :^O

Make sure you bring empty luggage to fill up with your favourite treats, etc.

Which foods do you miss the most?

Sandi , my list gets longer everyday!

Happyinoz - the big thing I miss is decent bread. Regular bread has sugar added. Oops, I mean it's enriched! A ham sandwich on sweet bread is odd. We once went away for two weeks leaving a sealed loaf on the bench and it didn't go mouldy or stale! I'm yet to see a bread roll here. :(

My big thing is that shopping for anything takes so much time, mainly because products aren't in familiar packets, so you can't rely just on brand identification.

All the other stuff I miss is all junk food - cheezels, twisties, hamburgers from a fish and chip shop, pies, sausage rolls, and ent tinned beetroot!

But life gets continuously easier and I'm not in India like Helen wh has it REALLY tough!

Hi, I'm here, just haven't had much time lately to post, list books or even just relax.

Taking on a new job (in Oct last year), plus running two businesses from home, plus looking after a 5yo & 7yo, plus organising a household (solo), plus a dog with a broken foot and a cat with a paralysis tick, plus any number of other disasters that seem to happen daily, has kept me quite busy.

Now the girls have gone back to school - Miss 5 started Prep on Monday, which also happened to be her 5th birthday, Miss 7 started Grade 2 - I'm hoping things will start to become more structured.

It's been a crazy couple of months.

Carla :O

How do you manage everything?  Amazing!

Is the job part-time or full-time?  Are you enjoying it?

The job is part time at the local charity store, however I do volunteer a lot of time there as well - until I can find some more volunteers!

Basically, I think I'm just crazy and very tired.  :-p

I don't like the new boards here so I've only popped in a handful of times since the changeover.  I'm only here now as I don't want to get up and do what I need to do.

I agree Suz - I don't like the new boards either.  Probably also a reason I haven't been here too often.

Someone suggested they might have changed the boards to lose more people so as to be able to say they aren't used enough.

Suz, I think a few of us have that thought. :(

They probably wanted to reduce the amount of ebay bashing.

Carla -- you made me tired just reading all that you do!

Happy belated new year everyone! The gazelleparfaits are still plugging away down here in Tassie... not, unfortunately, swamped by ebay sales... ebay is SOOOO quiet.

Yes, little bit busy. Can't believe we've just had their 1st birthday party... took to cake and party cups like they'd be born to it!

Hi Everyone!  Carla you seem very busy, should settle somewhat now they are back to school.

I still have my ebay store and although it has been slow I am keeping it going.

We have just taken on a 5 year old that we plan to adopt.  He lost his Mum last year and the family approached us to look after him. So our life has changed heaps from no kids to a 5 year old.  He started school Thursday which was so nice.

Hi everyone,

Jeez it's ages and ages since I've been here!

Wow adopting a 5-year old! How challenging and exciting at the same time.

I think if someone approached me to take on an orphaned child, I would say yes as well. I miss having little kids around :(

Everyone is offloading their books on me at the moment as they know I dabble in selling books here on eBay.

Well the market has dropped out of book sales at the moment, so I only list the ones in good condition, or if they're fairly rare, or if I think they might be interesting. Mostly they sit on the shelf as well.

The rest I put in the recycling.

Anyway, found "Son of Eternal Night" by John Fariss in a bag of otherwise rubbish books (IMO). It's first edition 1985 and in fair condition. Checked listings and completed listing, found nothing for that author or that title.

D'you reckon that means it's rare and worth listing? Or just that nobody's interested?

My search brought up booktopia which has a few of his titles listed (at discount prices), but not this one.

Worth listing?

Or the recycling bin?

Icy

I collect John Farris. He is not a well known horror writer but he writes a good story

Def keep or list. You may find it takes a while to sell but one that is not for the bin.Don't expect a great deal for the book it is not a once in a lifetime find :)

C--

How wonderful for your OH, you and the little boy!!  :-x

I hope the transition to your newly-expanded family goes smoothly and all of your lives are enriched as a result.

I think your news definitely beats all of ours.  Your life will be even busier now.

Keep us up-to-date on how life with your new "man" goes either here or on the other board.

Absolutely wonderful!!!

Thanks, Dave. After browsing through it and reading a few passages, I think I'll read it, then list.

I googled him and read up on him on Wiki. I think I read his "The Fury" a long time ago, which was made into a movie.

I do like a good horror story, but I'm not keen on the Dean Koontz and Graham Masterton style.

I prefer suspense and mystery to black magic and gore.
