On a form where they request a certified copy of a document?

Why would a copy of the document sighted, verified, stamped dated and signed by a JP be refused because they state it is not original?

Was is stamped with a CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF THE ORIGINAL on it?

You might need to call up and find out if they want a person from a particular area such as a person in a court such as a judge...

What is it for?

I know that when I have had my copies certified I needed to actually show my original document or they would not put that little CERTIFIED TRUE COPY OF THE ORIGINAL stamp on it.

Every time they send a letter-it costs someone money.

Cat, it's for redemption of super funds and a payout of Permanent Dissability Insurance funds through the same super fund.

Their requirements were a certified copy of both sides of drivers licence, which is what we got certified by a JP at the Court House, I think what they are rejecting is, because we needed to send a copy with both above claim forms, one was a copy of the original.

Further to what catsback mentioned, I found the following (from an Aust Uni website)

How should the authorised officer verify each document?

They must write ‘This is a true copy of the original document sighted by me’.

Then sign, and print the following details: name, address, business hours telephone number, profession or occupation or organisation and the date verified.

They must include the official stamp or seal of the verifier’s organisation on the copy if the organisation has such a stamp.

In addition to the above, a Justice of the Peace must also print their registration number and the state in which they are registered as a Justice of the Peace.

Yes, it's been stamped signed and dated by the JP as being A TRUE AND CORRECT COPY OF AN ORIGINAL DOCUMENT.

I have had certificates verified by the Post Office manager in the past. I don't think the conditions were as strict then though, as far as what they had to write on the document.

Who can verify copies for you?

For Australian documents/ qualifications only:

The official records department of the institution that originally issued the document/s.
Anyone currently employed as a professional person.
A bank manager or a credit union branch manager; accountant (must be a member of a professional organisation); barrister, solicitor or patent attorney; police officer of the rank of sergeant and above; postal manager; principal of an Australian secondary college, high school, primary school or TAFE college.

The stamp has his name Justice of the Peace NSW and his number, he signed and dated the stamp.

We have taken the same document to our GP, he has written I certify this to be a true and correct copy of ....................................driver's licence........Dr. Name date stamp with his address, phone number. He has then written his APRHA number

Are those the docs you have already sent in 9signed by Dr & GP), or is this the second time you will send them in?

A pain aren't they? Although I guess they have to be 100% sure they are paying out funds to the right person.

I suspect the person reading it has no idea what they are doing.

Having a similar issue here with the bank.

OH has a COPY of the POA which is given to each person he has to deal with, re FIL's finances..... now one particular person wants a certified copy.......

The soliciter has the original.

So, we had to call the soliciter and get him to send a certified copy to the branch near him.....where they scanned it and sent it to our branch???

She accepted it. Ridiculous.

Then they sent all the details out, in express envelopes to my home mailbox, 2 envelopes, both with tracking stickers still on them, same day. Anyone could have taken them and cleaned it out!

Cat they sent back everything all forms and the verified licence, so we took the verified licence copy to the GP who also verified that same document, verifying he's sighted the original drivers licence. Oh and what also peed me off was they have our phone number, emal addy, home phone number, but they returned the lot which took 10 days from the date on the covering letter, from Melbourne.

Freddie I can see no reason at all why they have sent these back to you .
I would ring and ask them to explain exactly what THEY mean by certified copy .

And email them too .it is frustrating .
Be firm !!
