She was low range... I never drink and drive.. not even one drink... but this is not that newsworthy..

low range high range.. drink driving is drink driving. people are killed by drink drivers.. it matters little what devotees do, they aren't part of 'the team' ..this person is.

Did you see that interview with mr rabbit yesterday, when he was asked what he'd do about it? He shrugged and brushed off the question! He's obviously happy to have such people in his team, but that doesn't surprise me. Ditto for Mal Brough and other shonks in his ranks, It's fitting to the thug image of the Rabbit LNP tea party.

It is understood Credlin will apply for a section 17 - which would allow her to avoid a conviction and keep her licence - as it is the first time she has been charged with a criminal offence in her 21-years of driving

I don't think there should be any exceptions for drink driving penalties even if you are only slightly over the limit... or special privelges because of who you are.

Try telling a judge you should get off because you were only a small fraction over the limit...see what he/she has to say to that.

That's the whole point, Catad, it's not newsworthy and has no bearing on the credibility or otherwise of LNP policies anymore than Craig thomson's allegedpersonal misdeeds have any bearing on ALP policies. However, if it had been Rudd's chief of staff who got caught, the Murdoch papers would have been all over it like a rash.

I live in NSW and it was headlines when it happened.

Also in NSW we have way too many magistrates willing to let those with high or low profiles and totally anonomous people get off without recording a conviction.

There is nothing special about this case and the request for no conviction to be recorded, it is too close to the norm for us here.

Spend a week or two in the Magiestrates' courts and see how many get off for low range drink driving, it makes me wonder why the police bother taking them to court but I suppose they need to so that when the person has racked up enough convictions and lost their licence for 38 years or so and owe thousands in fines someone might actually take some action.

I am a Liberal leaning voter and I think that anyone one in a high profile job should live to a higher standard than those they preach to, but then I have seen a family destroyed by an only child being killed by a drunk driver going through a red light and that driver lost their licence for 6 months.

We are really tough in NSW when it comes to drink driving.
