Command Strips for hanging fabric on wall?

My daughter bought me a beautiful Aztec fabric which I want to hang on the wall.

She's been back from Peru for 2 years now and I still haven't done anything. It means handsewing a 'tunnel' at the top of the fabric then going to Bunnings and buying a flat piece of dowling ....

I want a temporary solution so I wondered if those 3M command strips will hold it up? It's not a heavy fabric.

Has anyone tried this with fabric?

Not sure about command strips. What about poster hangers if it's not heavy?

A couple of nails, piece of string and some wooden dolly pegs. Or plastic pegs, but I thought the old fashioned dolly pegs might suit the fabric better.

I'm renting so banging nails into the walls isn't an option. I just want a temp solution until I get my butt into gear and do it properly.

I could have used Command hooks, string and pegs but I didn't have any hooks, just the strips.

Well ... I've done it. I've measured and stuck 5 strips on the wall. I'll wait till I get back from work tonight before I attach the fabric, just to give the strips time to adhere to the wall.

I have done exactly that, cat

I have quite a heavy big wallhanging above my bed, attached with the command strips..
The only problem I had was trying to get the adhesive side of the strip to attach to the material.. As the weight dragged it down ..but i just glue gunned the material to the sticker

You wont have that problem if your piece of material isnt a heavy

My wallhanging has been on the wall for nearly 18 months..so it will work for you

the weight shouldn't be a problem, just not sure how it will stick to the fabric.

Personally I would have used a hook (Command brand) and hang the fabric like so: (if i got the idea right)

I am not sure whether the pic shows..if it does, that is my big heavy velvet hanging above my bed..
It is quite large, as wide as a queen sized bed..so there is a fair bit of weight there

I did end up gluing the material to the command strip..lol
But it hasnt fallen down in all that time

i imagined it more of a scroll type hanging with the piece of dowling through the "tunnel".

those strips are very strong. when we rented, i used them to hang up a huge, heavy painting (not above the bed just in case) it stayed up until we moved a couple of years later.

Mine is just a hanging and doesnt have any dowell or anything..

I am not sure how cat will do it 🙂

They are great..and not leaving marks on the wall is a bonus!

lol nah, i'm usually wrong.

anyway, if the fabric doesn't stick, the hook is another option maybe. Command now has a good range from clear ones to more decorative....

Don't try them on ceilings 😞 Walls ok but not ceilings where gravity is an issue

I got home from work and stuck the fabric to the strips and it's worked beautifully!

I have 5 strips at the top and realised I needed two at the bottom because a heating duct is directly below the wall hanging and it was blowing the fabric a little.

I made sure I really stretched the fabric tight so its flush against the wall. It looks fantastic! One day I'll post a photo.

I love command strips and hooks.
