Abbott and his government have been in for five minutes

They've had a bankrupt nation (courtesy of the lunatics who preceded them) to save, inch by tortured inch

All around the world, stocks are falling

In international online fora, thousands are predicting a world recession which will eclipse that of 1929 and are warning each other to take their money out of banks

Sure, Abbott should finish work (because surely he works a 38 hour week or less like the rest of us ?) and whip into a cupboard like Superman to don a set of overalls so he can spend his nights climbing poles and digging trenches

to provide faster internet

for those who need faster than light connections

so they can post a few lacklustre comments on the Oz ebay boards

I mean it must be Abbott's fault that people living on one of the largest and most desolate landmasses on the planet don't enjoy the same speeds as those living in pocket-handkerchief sized nations a couple of months after a bunch of low-IQ wasters have been kicked out of government

Gee, OP -- you should be directing your complaints to the UN or something. It's a major issue. And not as if the current government has anything else to do or spend money on -- right ?

It is interesting to reflect on what the government sees as unsustainable. There is a striking pattern to these budget items. Every single one of them affects the most vulnerable, those on low incomes, those in need and their families – ordinary working people doing it tough.

The rich, the insurance companies, the banks, the mining corporations, and other profit-gouging outfits will not lose one cent if these and other planned cuts go ahead. Their homes will be safe, they will still be able to afford $30,000 a year for each child’s fees in an exclusive private school as well as private health insurance and their overseas holidays. In fact, their incomes stand to increase significantly.

The billions of dollars saved by these austerity measures will lay the basis for future tax cuts for companies and the wealthy and advance the neo-liberal agenda of privatisation and deregulation.

So don't worry pcross, all will be well soon.

you apparently believe (a) that your point of view is the ONLY one

or (b) you're keen for it to be seen by 'someone' (do they employ you to post ?) that you're doing your job at flailing at the current government

Despite your frantic efforts however, the fact remains that in addition to those who voted out Labor in the last election

there are now millions more who would also vote Labor out

and who would vote LNP in -- at the drop of a hat

All surveys have shown that the majority is very happy with the current government

That majority of millions believe the current government is doing a great job

They also believe the current government is addressing many of the issues of most concern to the majority

And the Abbott government was described in the mainstream media months ago as 'having the approval of the majority '

I can't be bothered to answer the last part of your post or report it the mods as being "interpersonal".

However "surveys" - which "surveys" would they be?

Being part of a "majority" is not always a good thing, nor something I aspire to just for the sake of it.

You have recently lamented about the state of manufacturing in Australia - aussie jobs blah blah, please tell me how the LNP have been addressing this problem.

Or what about this - does this help

Self-assessment of company tax by the largest corporations – Abbott’s latest announcement will result in even less income - is unsustainable.

Cutting 900 jobs from the Australian Taxation Office – this is just as financially irresponsible. The ATO needs more staff to chase up the tax cheats, especially the largest corporations.

Let's see how the current Govt reacts to the following shall we, in the interests of Aussie Jobs,

Jay Weatherill, the SA Labor Premier, perhaps with the best intentions, is desperately seeking commitment from an alternative multinational company to set up production of something (!) in the soon-to-be-vacant General Motors plant at Elizabeth. However, this is unlikely to occur and even if it does occur, on what terms and conditions would a new multinational ‘player’ set up here and for how long?

There is an opportunity for the Premier to strike a blow for Australian independence from the ravages of internationally roaming capital by a government takeover of the Elizabeth plant and equipment and manufacturing either environmentally sustainable vehicles or public transport. This would have widespread support from the workers, northern suburbs community and locally based manufacturing and services related business.

Workers here have the skill base to make this a reality.

what rubbish, the libs couldnt form a magority without the national party and never have.

The fact that Australia has a less than third world telecommunications goes back a lot further than the last 10 years and both Labour and the Libs are to blame for not keeping up with the rest of the world in many areas.
