Beef Cheeks

I got some this morning, braising then atm.

Only ever used them for mincing before, but apparently slow cooked, they're pretty yummy.

And at $3.99 kg with no wastage other than shrinkage, seemed like a good deal to try

It seems that all the cheap things are becoiming "trendy" now.

Remember when people would turn their noses up at Lamb Shanks? We used to give em away for dog food and still throw out heaps at the end iof the week, these days they're like $15 a kilo! or some places sell em by the piece @ $4 each!

Beef cheeks need to be veeeeeerrrry slow cooked to be nice and tender.

Lamb shanks are yummy.

I spent a whole day last winter cooking beef cheeks from a recipe I found online. They were only "meh" at best.
I'll not be trying them again any time soon 😞

I was thinking about curing them, like corned beef? would that work?

I usually uise silverside or topside, so not as tough as the cheeks, spose if you cook anything long enough it'll go tender

I was cutting out the middleman again, barnacles were added by me because of my increased sense of self preservation.
