Shark victim's husband told 'prove wife is dead'

Fair enough I suppose. I guess they would need proof that someone had died before paying out on a claim, and if it is a non refundable depoist, well....

And not too sure I'd be up to cancelling trips still 3 or 4 months away less than 2 days after my husband's death. I guess we all deal with it in different ways, eh?

they found some human remains didn't they ? a police report is proof. if and when the remains are released he could take them to the office i guess.

I guess unless it actually happens to you, you don't really have a clue what you would do.

Some people bury their grief for later and concentrate on the mundane things like finances, funerals and insurance etc.

1. Why would they demand proof of her death (Death Certificate) if he will not be refunded the deposit anyway?

2. The actual work involved by the Travel Booking Company would need to be paid. However, there is not much compassion there.

And for the sake of a story, I believe it is sensationalism.

Yes, people do react in different ways to death.

The husband also spoke with journalists quite candidly so soon after the event as well. He referred to the pact that he had formed with his wife should "one go before the other". I personally, don't think he is missing her continued company yet. Perhaps wellwishers have not let him be alone with his thoughts. He is "getting on with this life and being strong". Most likely, It may hit him harder, later.
