Apparently so, Bob, judging by the movie reviews it's a box office hit grossing $300 mil, which I think is gross in itself.

Seems the more we try to stamp out sexually aberrant behaviour, the more it's peddled to the public, the more people like to watch it for entertainment.

It's a vicious and disgusting cycle.

If you had read more than a few of my posts on this forum, you would have an idea of my attitude to social issues, humanity and the treatment of others, and you would have seen my post (as others have) as a light-hearted joke.

I shouldn't have to explain, but I will. I have no knowledge of the book or the movie, and I wouldn't waste my time on either. Simply not interested. If it is something to do with sex, then I sure wouldn't learn from it. Already have that knowledge.

After the first 10 pages I deleted it from Kindle. Total rubbish and total crarp.

Also to put Jamie Dornan in the lead after the furore women in the UK erupted about "The Fall" which he starred in as a vicious woman hating serial killer and torturer.

What's going on here? and for women to flock to such a film shows that violence against women? who cares.

Next time I hear of a woman protesting about domestic violence I'll ask "did you read or go and see Fifty Shades Of Grey??

I read 2 chapters of this excuse for a book.................. normally I wouldn't judge anyone for their choice of reading material, don't care what people read.

However, in this case the author has no knowledge of correct sentence structure and I found it annoying. I didn't read enough (or remember enough) to connect it to DV.

I would more say it was a tacky sexually explicit book, poorly written with brilliant marketing.

I had the same thoughts re Jamie Dornan, Idle. Seems he's typecast for that kind of role, now.

Because I had been hearing so much about it I did read it all the way through. I kept thinking there has to be more to this, but there wasn't. It was a very poorly written excuse for sexual exploitation of a young inexperienced woman by a man in a position of power.

So although I would, in truth, have to answer yes to your question it wouldn't be because I in any way excused domestic or sexual violence.

Until I heard several minutes ago what Wilkinson said, I thought it was just a dirty book. Had no idea there was DV involved.

I saw Pitt in his first film where he played a bad boy who was a thief and involved in a wild sex scene, so have "been interested" in him since then. Hence my remark.

An apology for saying that "I am the cause of the problem" would not go astray. That's what abusive husbands say. Is that what you think?

I think Domestic Violence is not quite correct. They do not cohabitate and really have no "domestic" relationship at all. Sexual violence and exploitation is probably more accurate.
