Tupperware replacement under lifetime guarantee.

Has anyone had any problems with getting damaged Tupperware items replaced?

Seems it now incurs a postage charge. That wasn't the agreement when the tupperware was purchased, so what are the ramifications?

I think that charging you postage is fair enough. They are replacing the container only. The postage should be outside of that.

Well that wasn't the terms of the agreement many years ago when they were spruiking their lifetime guarantee. It was simply to return it to a rep and it would be replaced.

Are you returning it to a rep or are you posting it direct to the company?

Hand it to a rep and then take delivery of it from the rep......let them fight it out with the company.

If the item is "many years old" then you are probably on a good deal if you only have to pay postage.

Hi Lyndal,

I want to return it to a rep and I've asked them for contact details for one, but they won't provide it. I know there are lots around here, as i live in Brisbane and they sometimes have promotions at our local shopping centre.

Apparently have this new policy whereby everything has to be posted back to them and then you also pay for postage of the new items back. if I was buying tupperware now and that was the policy, then I would happily abide, as that would be the agreement i entered into, however, that isn't the agreement that they had at the time, it was simply 'return it to a rep for replacement'.

They hope to make the hoops too high to jump and you don't bother.
I had an issue with a lunchbox set that vac sealed a 5 yo out of her lunch.
I gave up.

The other silly thing is that there is a major distribution centre 5 minutes from here that I could take the items to. I have pointed this out to them and am waiting to hear back. i somehow suspect that I won't though.

I have heaps of time so am happy to do the hoops. If I have success I'll let you know thew process. Thanks for your interest and support.

Those are their requirements. Post it back. You're getting a replacement free.

Unless the' both ways' postage is dearer than a new one? Suck it up IMO

I asked for help and insight, not sarcasm. if you have nothing productive to offer then please leave it to those of us who are genuinely interested.

By the way, they weren't the requirements of the contract that I entered into when I bought the items (and lots of other very expensive tupperware items too). As I said, if I was buying now I would honour the new agreement, but I have /or had no such agreement with Tupperware at the time of purchase, in fact they promoted quite the opposite.

It looks like Tupperware are complying with their legal obligations under Australian Consumer Law (i.e. customer is responsible for postage, insurance costs etc. to return product to manufacturer/distributor). I would imagine that any offer that they made a while ago may be overridden by ACL.

I would be very surprised if your contract specifically includes postage as part of the replacement. I also suspect that your contract says that you need to return it to your purchaser rather than a general supplier or head office.

If your contract states BOTH of those things then I would copy the contract and email that to them.

Have a look at their warranty statement on their website ...

You may not have to return it at your cost (unless they ask), maybe documentary/photographic evidence would suffice.

But you will have to pay $8 per 5 products to get the replacements back to you (if approved).

lol @ the request that products be returned cleaned - they must have got some doozies back to need to state that

We will replace, free of charge*, any Tupperware product, or any part that, under normal domestic use, shows a manufacturing defect. Where the same product (or any part) in your colour choice, is not available for replacement, Tupperware will endeavour to provide a Tupperware product (or part) of comparable function or an alternative product.

Should no suitable replacement product be available, Tupperware will gladly provide a full credit, to the value of the last recommended retail price of that item, towards future purchase(s) of Tupperware brand products. Yep, agree with you both. And this was bought when I was much younger too!

However, whatever their warranty says now, that is NOT the spiel that they were giving when it was bought. Just like on ebay anything bought prior to 1st November 2014 can't be returned fro a refund 5-6 monmths down the track.

I am happy to take it to a rep for replacement. I know there would be heaps around here, and as I said their distribution centre is 5 minutes away from me.

It's not so much the $8 as the principle!

Once the store or seller has the item, they will assess the problem. If the item has a major or minor fault, you are entitled to recover the return costs from the store or seller.

Returning large or heavy items

The store or seller must pay the return costs, or collect the item themselves if:

the item has a major or minor fault
the item cannot be easily returned
the return costs are significant.
Examples include a faulty wide-screen TV or washing machine."

so if your item has a fault you are entitled to get the return costs back under Vic consumer law. Check what it is where you are.

Tupperware is more airtight than Decor... I have used both for dry ingredients (e.g. flour) and the Decor was not airtight.

Spending $8 max for replacement Tupperware is good value (compared to the price of Tupperware items).

When I first bought Tupperware it was a 25 year guarantee, then changed to a lifetime guarantee.

About three years ago I tried to get a replacement pastry sheet - mine had cracked and was unusable.

I rang Tupperware and asked for a replacement and they told me I could get one for paying the difference between the price of the old and the new ones. I told them where to keep it.

I was so disappointed because I used to have great parties where they would be over $1000.00 in sales. I was not a rep.

Decor is as airtight as it needs to be considering you are always taking the lid on and off anyway. My tupperware probably did last 25 years before the lids started to split but geez, it's ugly now anyway. Rose pink.
