Best one I have seen today was an image of a pregnancy test (positive) sent to my nieces husband. He fell for it (they already have 3 children)

One granddaughter almost caught me out on FB with an engagement notice. Fortunately she lives in Queensland and I am in WA so by the time I got to read her post others had called her bluff.

My grandson's fiancee fooled a lot of people (also on FB) by announcing that she and my GS had snuck off and got secretly married, because they couldn't afford a 'proper' wedding. It was very plausible as they are wanting to get married but struggling financially, but by the time I read it I'd already wised up to what day it was.

There was a story of the front page of our local paper this morning that I completely fell for. I was so cranky, and my husband played me along.

SA police news this morning

SAPOL’s Cat Operations Unit is ready to pounce!!

The much awaited Police Cat Operations Unit start official duties today.

Naturally curious and highly suspicious, the moggie patrols will be deployed during the hours of darkness to utilise their superior night vision.

Nimble, agile and excellent climbers the highly trained cats will be used across the State except anywhere near water.

Senior Sergeant Fi Lyon Officer in Charge of Cats Operations said, “These police trained cats won’t be **bleep**-footing around. We have been using Police Dog Patrols for many years now, but these cats are the purr..fect addition to police operations and they are ready to prowl the streets for anything fishy!”

The Cat Squad will be housed in cardboard boxes and trained at Thebarton Barracks, a considerable distance away from the Dog Operations Unit.

The operational cats will be retired from duty once they have used seven of their nine lives.

Queensland police service news

The QPS will conduct a three-month trial of personal transporter modules, or kangaroo shoes.

The shoes, to be trialled from today, will help increase officer mobility as they patrol large tourist areas around the state.

They will also assist Stock and Rural Crime Squad officers in surveillance activities enabling them to cover more ground and blend into the local fauna.

Initially five sets of shoes will be available to specially trained officers.

Senior Sergeant Joey Hopper said officers would be able to patrol greater distances by using the locomotion mechanism enabled in the spring loaded shoes.

“Officers are excited to begin the trial and hope they are beneficial in their day-to-day work.

“The QPS might also consider trialling other kangaroo-inspired equipment such as pouches for officers to store their accoutrements,” Senior Sergeant Hopper said.

Sergeant Marcia Supial will lead the trial from a purpose-built facility at Kangaroo Point.

“Some of the benefits include improved sight lines, a longer stride and an increase in the total distance covered during patrols.”

Constable Jess Stir, one of the officers to trial the shoes, said they would be a way of engaging the community and keeping fit at the same time.

The trial will be evaluated at the end of the three months.
