Okay.

I'm assuming it is okay to post about the different names of everyday things.

I couldn't remember what the Australians call a valance. It's a pelmet. I just learned that one last year.

What else?

Trunk-boot

cilantro-coriander

Pullover sweater- jumper?

undershirt-vest?

cookie-bikkie?

Do you call potato chips-crisps?

We call rubber sandals-thongs in California. lol. Weirdly enough, we call those string undies, thongs, too. It can get confusing.

I once told a Scottish friend that she could borrow my thongs, if she wanted to go to the pool. She gave me a look of horror.

We call a valance a valance. It's like a skirt that covers up legs on a bed or a table.

We call potato chips- chips.

Undershirt might be singlet, a vest is usually worn over other garments.

We call rubber thongs- thongs, New Zealanders call them jandles.

Crisps is an English name, Aussies call them potato chips or just chippies (which is also what we call carpenters)

string undies are usually called Gstrings 😄

We call potato chips, chips or crisps.

And we call french fries potato chips.

Jumpers, pullovers, sweaters, windcheater, all variations of long sleeved outer garments for upper body.

Undershirt could be singlet, vest, tshirt, spencer, skivvy, depends on the style and season :D:D

But if you visit do NOT get suckered in by scallops in NSW. They are cheap skates and batter a bit a spud and sell it as a scallop. Only in the Southern states will you get scallops from the ocean sold as scallops. :D:D

That's only at places like Subway........upper-class joints give you a choice, fries, baked, or mashed.......

No, I've read it in novels, people eating at home, and it has been on Everybody loves Raymond a couple of times. I assumed it was common.

I mean potato crisps, not real potato chips. I know real chips are served with everything whether ordered or not.
