Assange To Be Cleared Of Rape Allegations

Julian Assange is expected to be cleared of three sexual assault claims next week after spending so long in hiding in Britain that the allegations have expired, it has emerged.

He is avoiding extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning over the alleged crimes, which include violent sexual assault.

Within a week, three of the four claims he faces will have reached their five year expiry date under Sweden’s statute of limitations.

As a result Mr Assange, 44, is due to be cleared,

Mr Assange, who denies the sex claims, fears that he will be extradited on to the US to face charges relating to the huge leaks of sensitive data.

I wonder if that means he'll be able to leave the Ecuadorian Embassy? And if he does, will he meet with some sort of "accident"

Applying a statute of limitations is not the same as "being cleared" A remaining accusation (rape) has an expiry date of 2020, allegedly.

Assange's claim that "he fears that he will be extradited on to the US to face charges relating to the huge leaks of sensitive data." Is nothing more than an excuse to avoid legal process, because if the US were interested in Assange then it would be far easier to extradite him from the a friendly UK ally, than Sweden.

The Swedish authorities stated (obviously) that while they can not (legally) give an assurance before an application for extradition from any country is made that it will be denied, they would treat any application as they saw fit.

I think he is a slimy sexual predator who is in his current position purely because he would not use a condom when asked to do so, and then would not reassure the women concerned by having a blood test. This then escalated into a criminal offence(s) under Swedish law. Assange then fled the country, ended up on £200,000 bail put up by "friends" in the UK, which they promptly lost when he took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy.

I think he and David Hicks would make a matching pair :- The Dirty Duo

that said, thank god for people like him who reveal the lies and propaganda perpetuated by various governemnts across the world. thank god there are people like him prepared to lay bare the bald faced hypocrassy of many.

granted, i dont think he is a saint BUT he has given us more information than we may otherwise have had..

Having sex without a condom does not translate to rape or sexual assault worthy of prosecution in my book. Ok it does in the Swedish book which is why he has resisted extradition by the Brits, I guess.

He fears extradition to the US from Sweden and I can understand why. But I say good on him for shining the light on the cockroaches breeding under the fridge.

Would we understand the ramifications ot the TPP, for instance, without the efforts of Assange and Snowden?

I would suggest you do some research, as it is alleged that before the sex Assange was asked to use a condom and refused, he then "forced" himself upon the woman (no means no). Your "book" needs amendment.

The reason for the expressed fear of extradition to the US claim is to resonate with anti American sentiment to be found OS (UK) and here, in the same way that the traitorous slug Hicks was defended by many here, also without any research.

Except that he's on Ecuadorian territory otherwise the UK would have extradited him in the blink of an eye.

My comments are so presented because they concern an allegation, not a fact.

You could possibly allay your suspicions by reading the Swedish police report which is easily accessed.

"Swedish legal experts have said that the section of the Swedish penal code involved in the allegation refers to the third and least serious of three categories of rape, known as “less severe,” commonly invoked when men in relationships use threats or mild degrees of force to have sex with partners against their will."

Assange fled to the UK then took refuge as a political (?) refugee to avoid being extradited and then interviewed, constantly citing a fear of being extradited from Sweden to the US. For heavens sake, he had been in Sweden, if the US wanted him they could have "grabbed" him then.

Assange has repeatedly said he was available to be interviewed in the Equador embassy (so he could obviously not be charged/arrested) and when the Swedish authorities agreed the Embassy has so far prevented that happening, convenient! :
