Tomatoes in July!

I am in Melbourne, and usually tomatoes that are not ripe by about February just do not ripen. But this year we had heaps till end of May and then I have ripped most of the plants out. However there was one that I planted in the driveway; it was a little one I did not know what to do with and so i just popped it in the ground next to the house and a Luma shrub, and promptly forgotten about it. Couple of weeks ago I noticed something red all the way at the top of the 3m Luma! So with the help of a ladder I harvested handful of tomatoes, and have been picking them as they were ripening every couple of days. And here is what I got today

Gues they were protected from the cold by the house and the Luma

This plant is on the north/west corner of the house, which is right next to my patio where I always grow my tomatos in tubs. But this one gets the cold southerly wind blowing up my driveway.

Nice tomatos, there, Nova.

Middle of July here in Sydney, yesterday, it went to 28c ! MIddle of winter!

Last week it was icy cold at 12c.

Spring sprung here today!!

The mauve fairy primula in pots on the northern side of the house have begun flowering.

In NZ it is the warmest winter for years, fruit trees are flowering so are spring flowers.

Cold at night but we have had some beautiful sunny days, most of it I have spent sitting on the deck reading books.

I wish I had not started reading this thread.

Just feel twice as cold now.

It is just 11C here, and no, I don't live in the snowy mountains, but the road is white with hail.
