@cyberdolls wrote:

Obviosly you are a seller, trying to convince me (and others), I am making all this up, because I gon’t have anything better to do. Whatever! My complaint is legit, and it’s happened way, too often in the past couple of months, there ARE sellers waiting days before posting! Most aren’t ‘small’ time sellers, they have 1000’s of feedback. They could post on time but they don’t!, Ebay gave them a loophole and they are exploiting it, guess their reason all you like, it doesn’t change my experience one iota.

I'm a buyer too and I agree with you that long waits for things to be posted is annoying.

I think that expectations by buyers are higher these days, or should I say, we can do something about it.

Back in the early ebay days, I found over and over again, that it was Russian roulette when things would get posted. It was nothing for some of those home sellers to take a week or longer to post. A number of times I had to message sellers after a week and ask politely when my things had been posted so I would know when to look out for them. And invariably the answer was "oh in a couple of days I will be posting."

It made my blood boil a bit, to be honest. But of course back then, there wasn't a thing you could do, you were at the seller's mercy.

It wasn't every seller, just some.

I've noticed a big improvement since then. The estimated dates in ads now has really made a lot of sellers pull up their socks.

But I do get a bit annoyed if i buy something and it isn't listed as posted for several days. Some sellers don't bother to do that.

I have a little internal policy that goes like this. I buy mainly Australian and I pay attention to the delivery date estimate.

If I can see an item has been posted off in a reasonable time (by which i mean within about 3 days), then if it is a day or so late, then that doesn't affect my feedback, I would still give top stars to a seller. But if an item's postage were to be delayed longer and then arrived late, I would ding the stars because in my opinion, it would then be the seller's fault it was late, not Aust Post's.

I do believe consumers expect efficient service. It's what they are generally getting from other online buying sites these days. Usually you get an email notification within 48 hours that your things are on their way.

Hi there. I just bought an item from a seller who had a two day timeframe on her listing in which to post and its already marked as sent. Now I know the post office isnt open today. Its got a tracking number which I assume is from the pre-paid sachel? I guess its been done so she doesnt get a defect. Anyway Im asking about this because I sold two things yesterday & I dont mark them as sent until I actually send them which will be tomorrow. Any answers appreciated.

Maybe she has a two day handling frame because of ebay's nonsense 'estimated delivery dates'

As mentioned, she could have used a prepaid satchel and put it in a red mail box

I have a 3 day handling time and there is a red mail box literally over the road from my house

Not sure what grounds you have to think the seller is dishonest, unless the feedback she already has gives you reason to think so?

If I have an early start I generate my eBay labels the evening before. They are immediately marked as sent, but the tracking will not show as received by AP.

eBay label tracking numbers start with 'EBA' so it's easy enough to check.

eBay labels are generally 10% cheaper than the equivalent single prepaid satchel, and it's fairly easy to setup to use them.

Also items are marked as posted as soon as you print an ebay label. Doesnt mean its in the box but as far as ebay is concerned once the money is in their bank from the purchase of the label - its posted !

I’m fed up with. items being marked as. ‘Sent’, but not “Received by Australia Post” until a few days later, because it has NOT been sent, So don’t mislead by notifying it has! Very annoying procedure Ebay, it is SENT, only when the P.O has it, so the automated ‘bot’, needs a good kick up the bot! Too many sellers are taking advantage of that and posting when they feel like it. Leaving buyers to check every day on where or how much longer to get the ‘real’ SENT date. Take that darn automated action OFF.

Ebay is not going to change this just because it annoys you so it might be best if you do what most people do and don't bother checking on the postage - just wait and if the item doesn't come by the estimated delivery time, then check on it. That might save you a bit of stress.

Ebay don't read here, you could try letting them know your feelings directly through their link but you would be wasting your time. As long as you get your item within the estimated time thenit really doesn't matter if they post immediately or not. You are stressing yourself for no reason.

Yes I realise it’’s not a new thing, however the delay in putting the Item into Au Post, has noticeably increased in the past 2 months, biggest offenders are Chinese sellers making the most of the loophole, last item I got took ll days, (since so called ‘sent’), coming from Sydney to Brisbane, 4 days is the norm.

Apart from the lockdown in China which delayed parcels enormously and which was none of the sellers fault I have not noticed any delays in postage at all. You must be having an unlucky run.

11 days is not unheard of even within the same state. AP can send parcels all over the place sometimes so you have had it good if you always get your items within 4 days. There are often reports of two weeks or more within the same state let alone between states. My point is that if you buy something with a tight time schedule then it is better to buy from a B&M store as there can be delays that are not the sellers fault.

If you are going to be impatient, and certainly if you are going to leave feedback as you have for Auspost times that are out of the sellers hands then you may end up on a lot of sellers 'lists'.

I haven’t been buying from China direct for some time now, I reffered to Chinese sellers who list the item location in Australia, but...leave the actual posting for days, tracking shows when the item is received by Au Post, it’s a no brainer to see that delay.

Simply put, the times ARE getting longer before the article is truly sent, what’s so hard about POSTING, then mark sent?

I have always given 5 stars and allowed for small delays, in future it will be 1 star for slackness on getting it on the way, enough of the nonsense & excuses, good sellers thankfully do the right thing and I’ll stick with them.

were your items 'tracked'? As a seller when I put tracking # in, eBay automatically marks it as sent (even though I have a 2 day handling time) although I post sometimes, twice per day.....once to post office, then to red box
