Extended warranty issues

I purchased an item in February from a seller that advertised a product with 3 year warranty.

item failed in early May. Contacting the seller first was hopeful, but soon they have stopped responding to emails. Have contacted PayPal but have had no luck as they do not cover anything after 30 days for return and are not helpful at all. Are sellers under any obligations within eBay or am I now to go through the ombudsman or ACCC.

"Warranties" on eBay are meaningless UNLESS the seller is registered in Australia AND is an authorised seller or reseller of the product.

There is no warranty unless the seller is an authorised seller/re-seller of the brand and registered in Australia

The eBay MBG is not a warranty, nor does PayPal cover warranties so pointless to contact either for one

IF you bought from an authorised seller/re-seller, contact the company directly

Otherwise, no point in going through the ombudsman or ACCC for something that never existed

What was the item number?

eBay does not provide any warranty.

Was the seller and authorised agent/seller/re-seller? If not, you actually purchased an item without any enforceable warranty.

There's really no need for you to contact ACCC or anyone else to be told as much.
