Fake Miss Sixty items.

Hi,

I just wanted to warn everyone that there are fake items about of the Italian brand Miss Sixty. I was caught out as I bought a fake dress! Miss Sixty advertise as Miss Sixty/Miss 60 NOT M60. There are a lot of cheap, imitation items in America that are made in China around - I didn't realise until my bad experience! I have attempted to report items, don't know how successful that is, as the items still seem to be advertised!

If buying any of the Miss Sixty items, look at the tag - Miss Sixty normally do not advertise on their brand tag where the item is made, it is normally found on the tag stating the material of the item and also has the internet site and 'Distributed by Sixty, S.P.A'. Items normally have some some of identification of Miss Sixty on the item, eg a metal logo, red piece of material with Miss Sixty written in white, or even with the appearance of being handwritten! Look for these things or ask for pictures of the tags - genuine items have Miss Sixty written on their tag if they are new with tags and do not have colours written on their tag, the colour is normally given as a number/letters! Miss Sixty items are expensive, so don't get caught out by fakes!!!!

BE VERY WARY!!! I am finding this is turning me off ebay 😞

Just always be sure you pay using paypal, so if in the event you receive something that is suspected fake, or poor quality, you can claim back from paypal, and always research as best you can. Most buyers golden rule (second to paypal all the way!) is 'if it looks too good to be tru, it probably is'

hi stars,

it is up to the © holder of any brand to monitor sites such as ebay and inform the site owner if fakes of their brand are offered for sale.

eBay has a VeRO scheme, whereby © holders can join and report on any fake listings, which eBay will then immediately cancel.

it is not up to individuals to report fakes, that is the responsibility of the original © holder.

There are heaps of fakes, I have no proof of course, but what a great venue to sell them, just always be careful, and if in doubt..walk away, saves a lot of angst and some money

I think there are a lot of fakes too, but sometimes the sellers don't know either, particularly when they are selling vintage stuff.

The other day for example I mentioned an item I would have liked to have posted with First Class International instead of Priority... Anyway, upon closer inspection I realized it is a fake, but I don't think the seller knows or he wouldn't have posted the photos that prove it is a fake (I understood from a small particular in the label)!

^^^^^^^^^^^ The OP has their point to make regarding fakes - I think starting an interrogation of ID, purchase and feedback history is a tad over the top. The discussion thread is on fakes.

OP, yes, I think that having purchased, or nearly purchased a fake turn a number of buyers off on-line purchasing, including ebay.

IMO there are a number of very useful guides on ebay written by sellers and buyers, that give tips on authenticating particular brands of garments and goods. I have used these a couple of times to confirm that suspect items being consigned to me for sale were indeed fakes.

Hi foxette-in-sox,

I have been lucky in my ebay purchases that since I joined ebay (no, this is my only ID, I have never had another one or had a need to change it!!) that I have only ever received three fake items - this miss sixty dress, a kipling bag and probably a pair of miss sixty sandals - that I knew were fake, but didn't act on this as I am currently studying and contacted ebay after the 40 day period.

I have attempted in the past to leave negative feedback but I know for a while that ebay wouldn't allow it - even though I tried hard!

After this experience, it has turned me off ebay, but in saying that, I won my claim with ebay-paypal so on return of this dress to the seller, I should get all my money back!

My post was just to notify other people that there are fake items around - I had never realized before - I guess being a poor student will do that to you!

I was also in touch with the Miss Sixty brand and they said there are fakes around, but they are not going to monitor ebay or amazon as there are private sellers on here!

After posting my comment, I have not been back on these discussion boards, but coming on the boards made me realise I have just been lucky when I hear all these horror stories!

Ebay is just the same as your local markets.

You have to be wary - it's always a case of Caveat Emptor (Let The Buyer Beware).

It's not what the sellers tell you that is the problem... but what they DON'T tell you. So, for example, if you are buying gold, then YOU need to know how to test and determine if the item you are buying really is gold.
