unfortunately, paypal can ONLY refund the purchase price, they cannot 'pay' you any compensation nor can they make the seller compensate you.

you are lucky he is at least offering something towards your repair bill. personally I'd take it and buy my case from a retailer who will guarantee correct fit, not online.

PayPal Disputes

Hi guys - I've never posted a question on this Forum however neither PayPayl nor eBay is helping me out. I recently purchased an iPhone case from a Sydney seller. It arrived in good time however when I put my iPhone in, the glass at the back of the phone shattered - the case was too small for it.

I immediately contacted the seller who offered to send a replacement case (although they said 'they can't guarantee it will not happen again with the new case').

When asked re repair to my shattered iPhone, he offered a repair kit from his shop ($15). I declined and said I would prefer an expert fix it. He offered $20 towards repairs. I asked for $40 (the total cost is $80).

At which they then stopped communicating and I contacted PayPal and lodge a dispute.

In the meantime, they refunded me the cost of the case ($6.93) and because of this (refund) Paypal has closed my dispute. What the! I sent them an email regarding this and it's been over a week and they still haven't responded.

What do I do now? I just feel that as the seller initially admitted liability, they should held responsible and pay for my repair costs.

Thanks.
