The tracking number shows only that it was lodged with Australia Post on the 5th of July, so if you haven't already, the best thing to do is contact the seller so that they can make enquiries with Australia Post and help resolve the issue.

these discussion boards are a member-to-member forum, you are not communicating with eBay representatives here.

Some board rules

- you are not allowed to name sellers by their ID or personal information

- you are not allowed to put your email address in a post

You will find that your Opening Post will be edited to remove the bits that are not allowed.

Now, as for offering you advice, you need to contact the seller. If they are not helpful you can open a PayPal claim for Item Not Received as the payment was less than 45 days ago. DO NOT let the seller string you out with claims like "I will re-send the item and it should be there within two weeks" or "let me check with Australia Post and I will get back to you". Put the claim in.

If they won't help, the forum members may be able to advise you further.

that's some editing they have done. Brought the Opening Post down to a real bare bones post!

PayPal may decide to make a discretionary payment even though the tracking number shows posting.

If the tracking does not show as delivered then there should be no problem getting a refund from Paypal once this is pointed out, it is then up to the seller to fight it out with Paypal as to who covers the refund, the seller if they do not qualify for seller protection, Paypal if they do.

Paypal will often refuse a refund initially if the seller provides a valid tracking number but that does not mean the buyer cannot dispute the fact that they have received the item, if there is no proof of delivery to their address then they will of course get their money back.

@phorum_junkie* wrote:

PayPal don't offer insurance, and don't guarantee that the buyer will get their money back if they can prove non-receipt, be it from the seller or from PayPal themselves. They pretty much state the opposite, actually.

A copy / paste from the eligibility requirements for PP buyer protection:

S10.1 You may be eligible for the PayPal Buyer Protection Policy if all the following requirements are met:

l. The seller has not provided valid Proof of Shipment in relation to an “item not received” claim.

So, if a requirement of being eligible for protection is that the seller doesn't have (or rather doesn't provide) proof of shipping, it holds that if a seller does provide proof of shipping, the buyer is (technically, at least) ineligible. It may be possible to get them to provide a discretionary payment, but it is by no means guaranteed, whether the buyer can prove they didn't receive it or not (S7.9 If the seller presents Proof of Shipment to your address, we may find in their favour even if you did not receive the item.)
