No, i do not believe they deserve a negative.

I believe they deserve a positive with "item never arrived, but a resolution was offered and I was refunded".

Their new listing may have been for a new batch of stock that they paid a higher price for. therefore they had to put the price of the next batch up.

yes, they should have honoured the sale in an ideal world and taken the loss, but they did offer you an alternative and they did willingly refund, and for all we know they really did post the original item and the postal service lost it/

yeah, their business practises may not be what we see as ideal, but they could have lied, they could have said we have sent you another one, but they didn't, they were up front and honest. and sometimes people make mistakes. It could be they meant to put aside a spare set for you "just in case" and forgot - all sorts of scenarios - as I saod people make mistakes

They didn't lie or scam you, they willingly tried to offer you an alternative and when that wasn't suitable they offered you a refund.

save the negatives for the guys who do rip you off and really do try to rob and scam you.

but of course, that is my opinion and feedback is your reflection of how the transaction went, so it really doesn't matter what i think.

Advice re: feedback

Hi there,
I purchased some childrens pjs from a seller but they didn't arrive. I asked for confirmation of date of postage which was not
Received however the seller offered a full replacement sent. I advised that I would appreciate this, however acknowledged that post has been slow of late so offered to wait an additional week to see if It showed up. 10 days later it still hasn't showed so I contacted seller who advised they now could no longer send the same ones but offered an alternative which I declined as unsuitable. I however questioned them regarding their claim the item was not available as they had created a new listing for the exact same item but were now asking a higher price. The sellers response was to refer to my original listing and insist that they had sold out. They did however refund my money and request that the transaction be cancelled which against my better judgement I accepted.
So my question is,, I am still able to leave feedback, would it be reasonable to leave negative feedback with regards to the sellers dishonesty in relisting the items at a higher price but telling me they were unavailable for replacement? It's just left me with a bad taste in my mouth especially after I offered to allow more time upon initial enquiry.
Thanks for your advice!

Negative feedback should be reserved for the very worst sellers who will not communicate or offer any kind of assistance when a buyer has a problem.

As you agreed to the mutual cancellation the seller could probably get ebay to remove any neg feedback if you left it.

Personally as no transaction ended up taking place mainly due to you not accepting the offer of a replacement straight away I would just not leave any feedback

There is nothing particularly suspicious about the seller having relisted at a higher price, they probably sold out while you waited the 10 days and have had to buy new stock which has cost them more.

Thanks for your replies, I actually hadn't considered the possibility of new stock costing them more. It would however have been nice if they had simpy explained that to me if that was the case.

Yep, I gave them more time and acknowledge this altered the "availability" which I fully understood might happen, however I also understand that sometimes things are delayed and wanted to do the right thing by the seller, just would have appreciated not being told I was incorrect that the item was still available for sale even after I sent them the link for the new listing and expressed my confusion.

Think i'll just not leave any feedback at all on this one.

Thanks again!

I'd be a bit ticked off too, seeing that they actually do have the item in stock.

I'm a bit surprised that if the item was sent with tracking, that the seller doesn't have any comeback with the post office, but I haven't been a seller in years so I am not sure how it all works now.

I don't think I would give the seller a neg though. I would be peeved for sure, but my own preference is to save negative for anyone who tries to rip me off-eg where I don't get an item at all and the seller seems to have nicked off. Hasn't happened to me in a long while, not since paypal came in.

But item not received or an item seriously flawed where the seller has lied and won't try to rectify the situation-that's a negative.

This one-at least you got all your money back without a fight.

I would probably just skip feedback as they don't deserve a positive either.

Thanks springy zone this was why I asked the question, i am not in the habit of leaving bad feedback and have always found most things are easily resolved with clear and reasonable communication, but after agreeing to cancel the transaction being of the understanding that the seller could withdraw the refund, which has never been requested of me before, I sat with it for a couple of days and saw the feedback request still sitting there then just didnt feel good about it being a positive, One of those moments where you wonder if you should expend the energy standing by principle or accept in the end you lost nothing and let it go.
Thanks again for the replies!

So the seller claims they sent the item two times? And also gave a refund... I think a neg is a bit harsh, although the seller could definately be putting one on. They are probably dancing around the room with 2 sets of PJs

If a seller did the same thing to me I wouldn't leave feedback at all and move on.
