PJ, if you own a computer there is no way your brain can atrophy but I do like the certainty of knowing where everything is on sites like my bank.

If I want to exercise the little grey cells I will hunt down my ancestors and try to prove/disprove the stories I have been told....there are a few skeletons coming to light.

Paypal Conversion Rate

I notice where and when you received this info has changed.

I buy most of my stuff from overseas and usually after I've clicked to pay and logged on to PayPal, I would see how much the US or GBP or EURO amount would be in Oz dollars with the conversion rate underneath - at the point of making the payment.

Now it just stays in the foreign currency with no clue how much it is in Oz dollars until you get the emailed receipt. I'd rather know at the time of purchase, not after it. (You can take eBay's conversion rate with a grain of salt - it never matches PayPal). Also it is handy where it was as I could usually paste it from PayPal into my purchasing files. Copying it from the email which has some kind of box or table formatting is a pain.

Why this change in procedure, I wonder?

I just checked my receipts....the first one that I have with the exchange rate on it is 22/7/14. My last international payment before that was 9/7/14 and it did not have the exchange rate on it so it changed somewhere between the 9th and 22nd July.

I think it is great that you can see at a glance what the exchange rate was when you paid without having to trawl through your paypal account.

But I still get the exchange rate on my payment page....nothing has changed there at all. I have made it a habit to jot down what amount is coming out of my bank account in AU$ as soon as it shows in paypal and it still shows the actual exchange rate under the amount.

Who knows why the change in procedure....paypal is starting to pull the same stunt as ebay and change things for the sake of change.

But this one I don't mind.

They are just keeping up with all the other websites that are making changes just for the sake of it. I get very annoyed when I log onto a site I use regularly like my bank and have to go on a treasure hunt to find where everything is now.

Just paid for something with PayPal - and the old info I copy for my records was back on the Payment screen where it belongs. Hurrah!
