Made an offer and seller has made counter offer less than that the offer I made.

Are you saying that you offered to pay a certain amount for something but the seller is prepared to sell it to you for even less than the amount you offered? I've never heard of a seller doing that before but if it's true, I'd be inclined to accept it as well.

Always use caution if a seller is willing to sell you something for less then you offered.

They might just want to get rid of it but,

In such cases I always remember the old adage "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts".

Those who are far less suspicious would say "Never look a gift horse in the mouth".

Me too.

A scammer would take your money, not offer to sell it for less.

Poor seller. I wonder if they can withdraw the offer, citing a mistake, and re-type the amount (same as bidders can)

I bought the item. It has been received and all good. Maybe they just wanted it to go to a good home.
