Bidding worry

I presently am bidding on an item for two dolls, bidding ends on Monday and hopefully I may win the auction. I only want one of the dolls though. What would be the best way of going about purchasing just the one doll I want from the seller, anyone got any suggestions please? I'm just worried if I say to seller I just want one doll they may become irate about it.

simply why would you be bidding on a 2 doll auction when you only want to buy 1 , , but if you win the auction whats the problem just give 1 away or re sell it

Easier said than done. I already have one of the dolls and the other one that I want is as rare as hens teeth.

Oh Michelle.....it is simple. If you win the auction just pay and when the dolls arrive either give one away, sell it on ebay or if all else fails there is always the garbage bin.

I imagine the seller may well get irate if you tell her you only want one doll.....she will probably cancel the transaction and block you.

Do you deliberately go looking for problems on ebay?

So you'll pay a high price for just wanting one.

Become a seller, sell the other one, and find out why so

What are we doing Stawks.....even suggesting that Michelle should become a seller is a scary thought.

Michelle they won't become irrate if you pay the full auction price and ask them to just send one doll and keep the other.

I may as well take both as its the same price, plus why would they keep the item when I've paid for two. I doubt whether they would do anything til the auction is finished anyway (well I doubt it)plus I may not even win the auction although at present I am the only bidder.

Michelle, Instead of bidding on the aution that included the 2 dolls why didn't you contact the seller and just tell them you were interested in one doll and could they sell it outright or make 2 different auctions.

cheaper postage....I often have people buy 'bulk' items then tell me to keep the ones they don't want...postage is cheaper & seller gets to sell again....win/win

If you pay, you're not willing to give an inch, are you. You're not willing to let the seller get away with keeping one. No siree, no bending of the rules here.

So why should you expect the seller to change auction conditions (after the auction) for you? You're bidding on an auction for 2 dolls. The auction will end and if you are the winner, you expect the seller to change things after the fact? Accept lower and only sell one doll?

Get real, be reasonable. You expect your pound of flesh if you have to pay, so don't go expecting favours of other people.

You bid, no one twisted your arm, if you win, pay up. It's not rocket science.

But don't go asking for special conditions after an auction, that is just not fair to the seller.

And you'll get that rare doll, so what's your problem.

The seller would have to be a sandwich short off a picnic to only send one, what would there be to stop the buyer opening a not as described dispute? We might believe that Michelle wouldn't do that but the seller wouldn't have a clue.

I agree. If you had wanted to ask if the seller would split the auction to sell you one doll, messaging them a request before you bid would have been a possibly better way to go abouit it...I don't think approaching them after the fact would win you any friends. I have purchased items which were 'US only buyers' until I asked if the seller might consider shipping overseas, and a couple agreed, and notified me on postage costs. I was lucky to win the auction and everything was smooth from there.

But if the doll is as rare as you say, maybe its not so bad to be paying the price for two just to get it. But only you can make that call Michelle.

if you only wanted one why start bidding before asking ? the right way is to ask first before starting bids.

if you do win them why not let the seller know to only post one but still pay the full amount.

you will be happy cause you only wanted one and the seller can resell the other..all happy

Emailed seller about it finally and made it short & sweet the answer from them is "NO". Selling dolls as pair only.

Seller also said 8 watching the item so maybe I wont win auction as I sure am not putting any more money on them.
If I win bidding it will cost about AU $185.00 for this item(post included).
