Just checked the new look preview of the dashboard. I see that my ontime shipping is borderline, even though it would be a rare thing items are not posted the same day.

This would suggest that prepaid labels with tracking auto uploaded during process is not enough to protect you. It may be necessary to walk into a post office everyday to post if you want to be covered, Otherwise you are open to buyers perception of late delivery.

You are correct.

You either need a scan event that shows the item is lodged (accepted) within your specified handling time or a delivery scan event (or both) that happens before the lastest ebay estimated delivery date (EDD). If you have either one of these then the buyer will not even be asked the question did it arrive on time. If you have used Aust Post as the carrier.

However, if you are a large letter seller then you are totally at the mercy of the answer to the question. You have no way to counter it.

As I understand it at the moment ebay have hot links into the Australia Post tracking system and can automatically see these scan events. But they do not have this setup for any other carrier at present (but are working towards this). So if you get a late delivery point but your scan events show meeting either the acceptance time or the EDD then you can call CS to have the point removed once you show them the supporting scan events. This info is from Tim Davies who had a meeting today with ebay.

In that case they should not be promoting street box posting method for Ebay labels and C &S. Expecting sellers to go to post office everyday to validate 1 day delivery is not only counter to APs desire to keep people out of post offices (hence the whole reason for online payment). It is down right unreasonable.

With regards to my "late shipping" even though it is showing as borderline I dont have any low DSRs in respect to slow delivery..so its all due to ticking the did it arrive on time box.

I had a buyer tick no, even though I posted within an hour of payment and it arrived interstate in 2 days. My handling time is 5 days, so even that hadn't expired, let alone that pathetic estimate. She also hit me with 1 star for postage time. I contacted eBay and got them to check the tracking number, which proved 1. I posted well within my handling time, and 2. it arrived well within the estimate. They removed the star and the defect and as my seller dashboard is saying I have no delivery issues, I'm assuming they removed that as well.

We are at the mercy of buyers, especially those of us who use large letter as well as parcel. My large letter items wouldn't be worth it if I had to add tracking to them.

Edited to fix spelling errors.

Yes new dash board is scary 😞 I use mainly large letter postage, and even my tracked items don't show for days as 1. I live rural and they don't scan at my post office (a small corner store) and 2 even when picked up the items travel to a rural sort area where they are loaded onto a truck and sent to Sydney where first tracking event is listed so normally takes 2 days before they are in the system 😞

I'd say then if you can't even get your tracked items scanned for lodgement until they reach the sorting centre you need to increase your handling time to cover this delay. Otherwise you are going to be totally at the mercy of the buyer's answer just as for your large letter items. Almost seems futile to even have to pay for tracking in this case. I would be inclined to call eBay and discuss this situation with a Rep. Ask for a supervisor if you don't get any joy.

Well... as I understand it if you hit more than 5% late deliveries then you will lose your Top Rated Seller status.

If the slide continues and you hit 10% then you will attract the attention of ebay who say they will work with you to figure out what needs to change to turn the trend around. But I suspect they will just wield the big stick and close or restrict your selling account.

If you are using tracking and always have proof of lodgement within your handling time then you have nothing to fear as the buyer will not even see the question. Even if you dont have the lodgement scan as long as the delivery scan shows delivered inside the ebay estimated delivery date (EDD) then you also have nothing to worry about. Even when you have the lodgement scan inside your handling time but due to Aust Post (or whoever) failing to deliver by the EDD then you will be OK even tho the buyer gave a NO answer to the question.

It's us poor old large letter sellers who will suffer most as we have no tracking and are therefore 100% at the mercy of the buyer and whatever they choose to answer to the question. A NO answer will always score you a late delivery point no matter what and you have no recourse because you do not have tracking. So we are just hoping our buyers will answer YES or give no answer at all.

I'm not overly worried about my own rating, the "test" report shows that none of my current defects will be there under the new rules, however, the potential for disaster is there for those of us who ship by large letter (90% of my items on both IDs). I used the Tell Us what you Think link at the top of the report, and did exactly that. I made it clear that if eBay is going to penalise sellers for late delivery (which is largely beyond our control) they need to recognise that for a great many products and sellers, shipping with tracking is cost prohibitive and just not viable. If they are going to insist on proof of postage, I sugested they should level the playing field by giving us the facility to be able to upload photographic proof of postage in place of a tracking number. Some of us photograph our large letters at the PO and this is accepted by Paypal as proof of postage so it should be acceptable to eBay as well. If we could upload those photos as evidence we would not be unfairly penalised.

I still don't understand why eBay even have to make this into an issue.

If a buyer is unhappy enough to leave a neg, there won't be any impact on the seller's account, but if a there's even a 1 day longer delivery time than eBay say, and a 100% satisfied buyer answers a simple Yes / No question honestly with a 'No', suddenly the seller did something wrong.

It bugs me that eBay take it upon themselves to make promises to my buyers and treat an "estimated date of arrival" as a "due date", and it bugs me that eBay think sellers should be penalised if Australia Post and other carriers don't meet eBay's promises to a buyer.

Most of all, it bugs me that eBay are taking a guilty unless proven innocent approach and still want to use a system where there is (for some sellers) no defence against what amounts to unsubstantiated accusations (that the seller didn't ship on time) based on circumstantial evidence (because it didn't arrive by eBay's ETA).

Hmmph, I say, to that particular part of the new system.

(For full disclosure, my dashboard preview is showing I don't currently have any concerns re: this shipping metric, but by and large if/how it affects me isn't dictating my opinion on it).

I will have to make sure to click the 'no' button serious how are we meant to get the items to buyers on time when the delivery system we have to use can not even get there own stuff to us on time.
