Stating no returns means nothing.

If they paid by paypal and open a dispute then escalate to a claim paypal will tell them to return at their cost to get a full refund.

Ask the buyer for photos of the stain and if they want a refund to please return the dress to be inspected before a refund will be issued.

New to This - Buyer Requesting refund

Hi ,

I joined ebay a few weeks ago and have had around 30 sucessful transations- starting to get my head around it all .

i recieved an email today about a dress purchased 2 weeks ago or there abouts , - Buyer claims there is a food Stain on the item which as discribed as new .

Brought by my well meaning husband - Far to small the kind you keep for a while and sell when he's not looking or has fortgotten about .

Due to the nature of the item i made various efforts when packaging for post to not crumble the fabric to avoid the seller needing to dryclean / Press before wear . and thought i would have then noticed any marks despite taking numerous photos when first listing .

she describes it as a small mark which to me - you could clean off with not to much effort - and i have my doubts as to weather it was there in the first place .

where do i go from here? - my listing Claims NO Returns . and she paid under $20 inc post for a $100 item .

Do i ask her to return it ? or do i need to refund first i feel a little like im being taken advantage of .

The price an item sold for and what it cost originally has nothing to do with a not as described case.

Your refund policy applies to what you will do for change of mind, it has nothing to do with a buyer getting a refund if an item is not as described.

As suggested ask for a photo, if it shows a mark then I would offer either to send them a prepaid satchel to return it for a full refund (If you think it is worth the cost of getting it back) or to give them a partial refund and they keep it.

Making a success of selling on ebay is all about customer service, put yourself in the buyer's shoes and think how you would like to be treated.

As for you examining the item carefully, even the most experienced of us miss a small fault now and then, if you are 100% sure you are infallible then you could just say you are not refunding as you are always right!
